And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression (Numbers 14:17-18a)
This is part of the prayer of Mose asking God to forgive the people of Israel for making and worshipping an idol at Sinai. God shows his power not in obliterating sinners, but in forgiving his people, even when they sin, and fulfilling his promises that he will save them and give them life. We, too, may trust God’s great forgiving and saving power.
Dear God, so often we, too, your people, do what is wrong. We pray, with Moses, that you will show your merciful power, forgiving our sin, and rescuing and leading us into your promised future of peace.

Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:7)
God is concerned for all people, and especially for those who need God’s love and mercy most. All people are sinners, and those who know they need God’s mercy may receive it freely – God loves to welcome them into his fellowship. Praise God for His forgiving mercy!
Lord God, thank you that you welcome sinners into your family, and forgive sins. I, too, am a sinner and have strayed from you. Please, forgive my sins, and let me be and live as your child!

Trinity 1 _
7 June 2026
We wish you a blessed Sunday, and greet you with the watchword for this week from Luke 10:16
“The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
Wer euch hört, der hört mich; und wer euch verachtet, der verachtet mich; wer aber mich verachtet, der verachtet den, der mich gesandt hat.
“Wie na julle luister, luister na My; wie vir julle verwerp, verwerp My; en wie My verwerp, verwerp Hom wat My gestuur het.”
Celui qui vous écoute m'écoute, et celui qui vous rejette me rejette; et celui qui me rejette rejette celui qui m'a envoyé.

“The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” (Luke 10:16)
How do we know who God is? Jesus spoke on behalf of God, and showed us that God is a loving Father. How do we know about Jesus? His disciples told us about him. How can others know about Jesus and God, about God’s great love? We, disciples, followers of Jesus, are called and entrusted to speak about Jesus, about the message of God’s great love. What an honour to be entrusted with this wonderful message!
Thank you, Jesus, that you showed us the great love of God. Thank you that we may be part of spreading this message. Help me to find the right words to tell others of the love of God you showed us.

Saturday, 06-06-2026:
I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish. (Jeremiah 31:25)
Again and again, God shows his concern for those who are needy, weary, burdened, whose strength is at an end. In Jesus, God is with you wherever you feel you cannot go on, where you find it difficult to pick yourself up – he will carry you.
Lord God, I often have no power to face the day. I find it difficult to do all my tasks. Give me your strength, pick me up and carry me, please!

The Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you. (Deuteronomy 23:5)
Enemies wanted to curse the people of God – and yet God turned curse into blessing because of his love. God does this again and again: What people think initially is a curse, God turns into blessing. He turned the curse of the cross into a blessing for the whole world – and even our suffering and difficulties he can turn into blessing. Trust him!
Lord God, I come to you with those things I experience as a curse: Sickness, crime, challenges of our society. Lord, you love us. Thank you for your love. Please, turn these curses into blessings.

Christ came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. (Ephesians 2:17)
Christ came to preach peace: Encompassing well-being, healed relationships, restored fellowship – peace with God, who loves us, and peace with our fellow-humans and creation, whom we are called to love as he does – not only to those who are near, not only to the religious and upstanding, but also to those far away from God, who are discriminated and rejected by others. May this peace grow in us and through us into our society.
Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for the peace you bring. Let your peace grow in my heart, and let me be a messenger of your peace to those who are near to me, and those who are far, with whom I am not that comfortable.

Whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)
When we read scripture, this is what we need to look for: Instruction, encouragement, that gives us hope. The scripture wants to lead us to God, to relationship with God, so that we learn to trust God, and therefore, in spite of all trouble of the time, can have hope, because it is God who directs us and all history, and he will lead us, and his world, to completion.
Lord God, help me to read your scripture in a way that encourages me and gives me hope in you.

Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. (Genesis 2:19)
God involves the human in his creation, letting him name the creatures – and, in naming, establishing a relationship with them. God wants us to live in relationship – with him, and with all his creation: A relationship of caring, giving and receiving, serving, protecting, nurturing. May we learn to name, and to be in relationship to, the beautiful creation of God, and care for it.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that you involve us in your creation. Help us to love it and care for it, as we relate to it, as you love us and all creation.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7)
Faith is receiving Christ, accepting his grace and the love of God – but also walking in him, allowing his grace to take root and grow in us and establish the relationship ever deeper and more fully. As we do so, we realise how deep the love of God is, and how much God gives in Christ, and we learn to live out of his gifts, which we receive with thanksgiving.
Lord Jesus Christ, help me to receive your grace ever more fully, to walk following you and living my life in your presence. Let your love and grace flow into and through me, and let me realise ever deeper how much you give, and give thanks to you, o God.
