The Strength To Keep On Going
Bible Reading: Isaiah 40:29-31, Galatians 6:9
> "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength... But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
> "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." - Galatians 6:9
You have been praying, you have been believing, you have been serving, you have been holding your family together, and quietly you are asking, "Lord, how do I keep on going?"
If that is you, this word is for you. God did not promise that the journey would not be tiring, but He did promise strength to keep on going.
There are three places God gives us strength when we feel like quitting.
1. STRENGTH COMES WHEN YOU ADMIT YOU ARE WEAK - Isaiah 40:29
"He gives power to the WEAK, and to those who have NO MIGHT He increases strength."
We often think God only gives strength to the strong. But the Bible says the opposite. He gives power to the weak.
As long as you are pretending you are strong, you cannot receive His strength. The moment you say, "Lord, I have no might left," that is the moment He steps in.
Paul understood this. In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, God said to him, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." So Paul says, "When I am weak, then I am strong."
Maybe you have been trying to keep going in your own strength. Your own willpower. Your own plans. And you have run out.
Today, God is not asking you to be stronger. He is asking you to be honest. Say, "Lord, I am weak. I have no might left to keep going as a parent, as a spouse, as a student, as a believer."
That honesty is the doorway to His strength.
2. STRENGTH COMES WHEN YOU WAIT, NOT WHEN YOU RUN - Isaiah 40:31
"But those who WAIT on the LORD shall renew their strength."
We want strength to run faster. God says strength comes when you wait.
The word "wait" in Hebrew is qavah. It does not mean passive waiting like waiting at a taxi rank. It means like a farmer waiting for rain, like a waiter expecting to serve โ it means to wait with expectation, to intertwine, to bind yourself together with God.
An old rope is made strong by intertwining many small strands together. When you wait on the Lord, you are intertwining your weakness with His strength.
This is why many of us are tired โ we are running without waiting. We start our day without waiting on Him. We make decisions without waiting on Him. We try to fight battles without waiting.
How do we wait?
- Wait in His Presence: Psalm 27:14 - "Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart."
- Wait in His Word: When you don't have strength, don't go to your phone first, go to His promise.
- Wait in Prayer: Not just talking, but waiting to hear Him.
The promise is, your strength will be RENEWED. The Hebrew word means exchanged. He takes your weak strength and exchanges it for His strong strength.
You will mount up with wings like eagles. You will run and not be weary. You will walk and not faint. Notice โ first you fly, then you run, then you walk. Sometimes strength to keep going is not about flying high, it is just strength to take the next step, to walk and not faint.
3. STRENGTH COMES WHEN YOU REMEMBER THE HARVEST IS COMING - Galatians 6:9
"Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap IF we do not lose heart."
Why do people quit? Because they cannot see the harvest yet. They have been doing good โ raising children, serving in church, staying faithful in marriage, working honestly โ and it looks like nothing is happening.
But Paul says, there is a DUE SEASON. Your season of reaping is already scheduled in heaven. It is coming.
The only way you miss it is if you lose heart and quit before due season.
Think of a farmer. He planted during Spring, as we spoke about. He does not dig up the seed every day to check if it is growing. He keeps watering, keeps cultivating, trusting that in due season, it will spring up.
Some of you are in the middle. You planted, but you have not reaped. Don't quit in the middle. The strength to keep going comes from knowing โ God keeps His calendar. Your due season is coming.
Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Not through positive thinking, but through Christ who is strengthening you right now.
Conclusion
So I want to ask you today: What do you need strength for to keep going?
Is it your marriage? Is it your faith? Is it your calling? Is it to keep serving when no one says thank you?
Today, do three things:
1. Admit your weakness โ Say, "Lord, I have no might."
2. Wait on Him again โ intertwine your heart with His before you run again.
3. Remember your harvest โ due season is coming, don't lose heart now.
The same God who kept you yesterday will give you strength for today, and strength for tomorrow.
Let us stand and pray for strength to keep on going.
Thank you to Sister Patience for sharing the Word of the week.
