*SUNDAY SERVICE | 24 MAY 2026 | SERMON*
*MESSAGE TITLE:* Be Committed, Fear the Lord, Give Generously, and Pray Always
*Scripture Reference:* Acts 10:1β8
- Cornelius was not a Jew, and not being a Jew meant that he did not belong to the commonwealth of Israel. People who were not Jews were classified as Gentiles. The Gentiles were people without a relationship with the living God.
- The Israelites had an understanding of their God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is the same God who introduced Himself to Moses at the burning bush as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because of the covenant He had made with Abraham.
- Even though the Israelites were in captivity in Egypt, the covenant that God had with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob still stood. Your βEgyptβ does not change the fact that He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- Cornelius was a Gentile, and that meant he did not have the right to take part in the covenant given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- Although Cornelius was a Gentile, he was committed to God. He committed to God even though he was not accepted. Today, the church often wants God to prove Himself before they commit. Cornelius, a Gentile, committed before he was accepted.
- Some people commit to churches for the wrong reasons. Unless you serve the living God, you will end up serving the church, seeking its approval, and missing Godβs approval.
- If you want to experience the realm of God, you must move from doing things to be seen by people to doing things for God.
- Your commitment is not genuine if you seek acceptance before you commit. Many people are hurt and discouraged in churches because they have put their hope in men.
- Cornelius was committed, and he feared the Lord. We must pray for the fear of the Lord to be restored in the church and in our hearts.
- Cornelius was committed, he feared the Lord, he gave generously, and he prayed always.
