Building in Crisis
Scripture References:
Gospel of Matthew 7:24-29
Book of Nehemiah 2-4
Book of Ezra 1:1-5
Crisis is not always a sign that God is absent. Many times, crisis becomes the environment where God develops strength, wisdom, faith, and endurance within His people. Throughout Scripture, we see men and women who built while facing opposition, uncertainty, fear, and weariness. Yet because they heard God and obeyed Him, they experienced supernatural results.
In Book of Ezra, God stirred the heart of Cyrus to release His people so they could rebuild the temple. The rebuilding began because God spoke and people responded in obedience.
In Book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in the middle of opposition, mockery, threats, and discouragement. Despite the attacks, the people continued.
Jesus also teaches in Gospel of Matthew that the wise man builds his house upon the rock. Storms came, winds blew, and floods rose, but the house stood firm because its foundation was secure. The difference was not the absence of storms, but obedience to Godโs Word.
As believers, building in crisis requires spiritual maturity and dependence on God. A believer needs:
The ability to hear God
Every divine assignment begins with hearing His voice. God gives direction even in difficult seasons.
The ability to trust God
Faith keeps us moving when circumstances appear impossible. Trusting God means believing His promises above the crisis around us.
The courage to obey in action
According to Gospel of Matthew, wisdom is not only hearing the Word but doing it. Obedience positions us for supernatural results.
Diligence in processes and resilience in obstacles
Nehemiah and the people continued building while carrying burdens and facing attacks. Great things require endurance. We must remain faithful even when progress feels slow.
Wisdom and strategic action
Nehemiah prayed, planned, organized people, and prepared for opposition. Spirituality and strategy work together in fulfilling Godโs purpose.
Every great thing will face near-death moments. Vision will be challenged. Opposition and weariness will come. There will be moments when giving up feels easier than continuing. Yet those who remain steadfast in God will see restoration, breakthrough, and completion.
Prayer:
Father, help me to build faithfully even in difficult seasons. Give me ears to hear Your voice, faith to trust You, courage to obey, and strength to endure opposition. Give me wisdom and resilience so that I may complete every assignment You have given me. In Jesusโ name, Amen.
