Mthatha: A Gold Mine of the Church in Southern Africa

Mthatha is truly a gold mine. Exactly one month after the installation of Archbishop Sipuka as the Archbishop of Cape Town following his 18 years of dedicated service to our diocese, Pope Leo has once again reached into Mthatha to extract another portion of our "spiritual gold."

We are overjoyed to announce that Fr Phomane Mesheck Motlatsi has been appointed as the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bethlehem.

While we will miss his presence, our hearts overflow with pride. This appointment is a revealsthe richness right here in our soil.

Congratulations, Mthatha!πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

Special congratulations, Fr. Motlatsi!πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ We are immensely proud of you and happy and celebrate this beautiful new chapter in your ministry.

✨ Our Apostolic Administrator is Here!

We warmly and joyfully welcome Bishop Thulani Victor Mbuyisa CMM to the Diocese of Mthatha on his first visit as our Apostolic Administrator.

During his visit, Bishop Mbuyisa will meet with the clergy, religious, and the Diocesan Administration as he begins to shepherd our Diocese, alongside his own Diocese of Kokstad and the other responsibilities he carries in the Church.

We hold him in our prayers as his ministry continues to grow in service to God's people.

Wamkelekile, Mhlekazi ... Be at home! πŸ™

As we observed Easter, we extended a warm welcome to new members who received baptism and Holy Communion. We hope they find strength in their faith journey. Gratitude is offered to God for these beautiful souls, and we seek His divine guidance. The celebrations came to a close with an Easter egg hunt.

Warm wishes to all on Easter.
"Christ has risen"
Alleluia.

We appreciate your hard work, Ms. Bell, in organizing the Easter egg hunt and providing treats for the children. Witnessing the excitement of the young participants was truly uplifting, despite some momentary distress when they couldn't find their eggs. Ultimately, every child was rewarded with an Easter egg. We are hopeful that all the kids had a pleasant time. May the efforts of the organizers and donors be rewarded with blessings. Happy Easter.
