The Africa Evangelistic Band or Association (AEB) is an interdenominational missionary organisation doing evangelistic work in South Africa since 1924. This organisation was initiated or started by three Irish ladies that came to South Africa for health reasons. They began working among the police, but when they saw the need in remote villages of South Africa, they longed for a mission in South Af
rica similar to that of the Faith mission in Ireland. The motto of our mission is “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God” derived from Mathew 6:33. Our calling in the AEB is to proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ where ever we can get an opportunity. Furthermore, we are a faith mission, and therefore do not ask for money when we share the Gospel. We put our trust in God to provide for us financially while we give all our attention sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The work of the AEB is divided into 10 different districts. Each district has a District Superintendent or someone that takes charge to arrange outreaches, etc. Then there are the younger workers that often move from district to district to help with outreaches, and camps etc. We get opportunities to minister at schools, children’s homes, businesses, old age homes, churches, and prisons. Then we have bookshops with good literature (although only one in South Africa, there is quite a few in Namibia). In smaller towns we also get the opportunity to visit people from door to door, or in their homes. What is our method? At a typical school opening one will usually share a testimony of salvation, and then another will bring a short message from Scripture. At the primary and pre-primary schools we also do puppet shows, thus making it easier for the little children to understand the Gospel. We find that there is great need in the schools. Therefore we try to reach as many schools as possible. At churches and old age homes we also sing and sometimes play on different music instruments. In the same way we also use opportunities at businesses to share testimonies and bring a message from Scripture. Praying with, and encouraging individuals, is usually part of such outreaches. Our goal above anything else is that precious souls may find salvation in the wonderful Saviour, Jesus Christ. That through Him they may receive forgiveness of sins, and receive a new life though the Holy Spirit. And that the children of God may be encouraged to be a light in this dark world. This is ‘n short summary of who we are, and what we do. For further information please see our website www.a-e-b.org .
