*READ: 2 Corinthians chapter 5*
● Our body is a tent - its not forever
● A tent is a temporary structure usually used by nomads who don't have homes
● We will have a house in heaven - an eternal body made by God
● We grow weary in our present bodies. We are now on holiday but when works starts people are tired. In this body we also get sick
● We long to put on our new bodies, a permanent dwelling. We will not live forever as spirits
● While we live in these bodies, we are not at home with the Lord
● Don't live as if this earth is your permanent home
● Live to please the Lord, it's our number 1 goal as a child of God
● Ask yourself: Is the Lord happy with what I am doing, my lifestyle, the way I live, does it please God?
● There will be a judgement for the unbelievers and a judgment for the believers (rewards) - we will get what we deserve based on how we lived our lives in these earthly bodies
● We have a fearful responsibility towards the Lord and that's why we work hard to persuade others - "Brother, are you living for God?"
● Have we died to our old life? We say that and then still live as if we never came to repentance and accepted Jesus on a particular day
● Our old life should be dead to us - there should be a difference in the way we live our new life in Christ. The old Freddy is baptised and the new Freddy living for God
● As a child of God we no longer live for ourselves but only to please God
● Pursure Christ. Forget about your old life (the glitz and glamour) - if you want that then you have to give up what the Lord wants and has in store for you
● Goal for 2025: Seek the Lord, pursue His will, live to please Him
● Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone and a new life has begun
● Wherever you live, can the people around you see that your old life is gone and a new life has begun? Or are you still living your old life?
● The new life is a gift from God - not something we worked for
● As ambassadors of Christ we represent Christ and not ourselves
● If you drifted away from God - the appeal is "come back to God!"
● Ask God to give you the strength and ability to please Him. Let today be the first day of the rest of your life - living to please God from today onwards
● We live in a dark world, full of evil, people who don't care about God
● Be that light shining in the darkness where you live, go to school, work (Christ shining through you). A shining light shows the way
