● 2 PETER E:18a KJV
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

"Grow in the things of God. Press on for more knowledge, for more understanding. Keep learning the Word, with an unquenchable desire to know the Lord more and have His glory revealed in your life." (Pastor Chris Oyakhilome)
We are chasing after perishing things of this world hence we're not growing spiritually. We are after fame, titles, etc. We want to be known, hence there's no trace of spiritual growth in us. We want to be in control, blocking the Holy Spirit from moulding and making us into what God desires out of us. Even when we read the Word, we want to memorize verses more than "so-and-so" instead of memorizing them for spiritual warfare and growth. The Word says, "My people perish because they lack knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). It is very important to acquire knowledge about God because even the Scriptures testifies about Him (John 5:39). We don't have spiritual understanding of the things happening around us because the very same milk we were feeding on 10yrs ago is the same milk we're still on. Some blame it on their leaders in church, the pastors don't give out the nourishment that the flock needs. But do you feed yourself with what you need? When was the last time you carried out fasting? When was the last time you did something that brings you closer to God? Jesus Christ is coming, it's time to stop playing church and seek Him.

● ISAIAH 7:9b NLT
Unless your faith is firm, I cannot make you stand firm.

- Prophet Isaiah had a message for Ahaz, King of Judah, from God. Syria had allied with Israel to fight against Judah. God said, "Unless your faith is firm, I cannot make you stand firm." These nations had sinned before God and they had no power in them because wanted to ruin them but God said, "In this battle that you're facing, only your faith can determine your victory." The reason why we fight loosing battles its because we lack faith. God is moved by faith. The minute God sees our faith in Him, He just cannot sit still and not act. Hence the book of Hebrews 11:6 says, "And it is impossible to please God without faith" (NLT). We walk by faith not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7 NASB1995). When we boast about ourselves and our might, God stand back but once we boast about the might of our Lord, He takes the stand and put us behind Him. The core of the matter is not how big or small your faith is but the gist of the story is having FAITH. Whether it's as small as a mustard seed or big as an elephant, you must have it.

● ISAIAH 1:3 NLT
Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its master’s care— but Israel doesn’t know its master. My people don’t recognize my care for them.”

- People forget God. We forget how good he is or has been. We forget how worthy of it all He is. We forget how He has brought us through. Prophet Isaiah writes the words of God to the people of Judah, and says, "... My people don't recognize my care for them." We see it but forget it over time. We are too busy with our own things, completely forgotten about the Master. The core of the matter is not about attending church services every day or every Sunday or speaking in tongues of fire but it is about recognizing God, having the knowledge of God and knowing your Shepard. It is about living, behaving, acting or leading a life that has His traits and resemblence. God wants to live in communion with us. He wants to be part of everything you do. Hence scriptures says, "Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31 NASB1995) because He wants us to live our lives fully devoted to Him. He wants us to be drawn to Him. Not by norm, not by religion nor law but by His love. He seeks full devotion, not just by service only but by every breath we breathe. He lives in and us in Him.

God raised this Jesus [bodily from the dead], and of that [fact] we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured out this [blessing] which you both see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, yet he himself says, ‘T he Lord [the Father] said to my Lord [the Son], “S it at M y right hand , U ntil I make Y our enemies a footstool for Y our feet .” ’ Therefore let all the house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (Messiah, Anointed)—this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me, For my soul finds shelter and safety in You, And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure Until destruction passes by. He is able to save
HEBREWS 7:25a AMPC
Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him,

The Word of God says, "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save..." (Luk. 19:10 NASB1995). No problem is too big for Him. There is no disease He cannot cure. There is no sickness He cannot heal. There is no issue He cannot resolve. I know because the Word of God says, "For with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luk. 1:37 KJV). Some are hurting from unseen wounds. Some have emotional distress such as hatred, anger, trying to get over being backstabbed, etc. Jesus can heal all that. Some are dealing with loss of their loved ones. Jesus can heal all that. Jesus can free us from all these feelings because if the Son of Man makes you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36 NASB1995). The Word says, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you" (Isa. 26:3 ESV). As you trust in Him, release all the hurting, pained, broken and unforgiving heart to Him and stay on Him for He will give you perfect peace. Jesus said, "I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give..." (John 14:27 NLT). Therefore, He is able to save. He is able to save those who have not yet received Him as their Lord and Savior. He is also able to save those who have accepted Him but are struggling with issues. He's a Savior, so whatever way you need Him to save you, He'll save.

Living differently
JOHN 15:16a NASB1995
You did not choose Me but I chose you,

No one has a manual or a program on how to live this life. One time we are up, the next we are down. We fall down and get up countless time because we are living upon the sufficiency of the grace of the Father. Hence the Psalmist said "You will show me the path of life," (Psa. 16:11a AMP) because he once lost his way but knew that "The Father chose me and He'll know the way." Stop living for people, depend on Christ Jesus on how to live your life. A change does not come over night but it will surely come. In the mean time, wait upon the Lord Jesus. Our end goal is to be like Jesus so that when He appear, we may resemble Him. Christlike character doesn't come over night as well. Now that Jesus chose you, live differently because you are different. You've been set apart. You are the chosen nation. Believe me when I say I know and understand that you're still struggling with certain aspects of your life but all of us are, just persist in prayer and in reading the Word of God. The Word says, "Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water?" (James 3:11 ESV). Continue to do what is good. Don't deviate from what Jesus has chosen you to be in order for you to follow someone else's standards about you. You'll encounter trials and tribulations, you'll sometimes lose battles that you thought you were going to win because God allows "bad" things to fall on us for our own good. Let's just learn to lean on Him. Learn to understand Him. Yearn to know Him because the Word says people die because they lack understanding of who God is. He's ways are higher than ours so are His thoughts. Just learn to trust Him because the life you are living He chose it for you. If you get lost, go to Him. If you get confused, go to Him. He never gets busy for you. He's always a helping hand.

The Love of the Father
HOSEA 2:6-7 NASB1995
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up her way with thorns, And I will build a wall against her so that she cannot find her paths. She will pursue her lovers, but she will not overtake them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my first husband, For it was better for me then than now!’

These are the words written by Prophet Hosea. God told Hosea to go marry a pr******te because "This will illustrate how Israel has acted like a pr******te by turning against me the LORD and worshiping other gods" said the LORD. Israel had worshipped other gods and forgot about their God. There are times in our lives where we chase after things that will shift us from God. And God say "I will hinder them from what they're running after...", "I won't allow them pursue it...", "I will block their path from getting things that'll shift them from me." Oh such a loving Father He is! Even when we go astray, He still extends His hand, protect us and lead us back to Him. He said in His Word "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" (Heb. 13:5 KJV). He's the Father that "will not allow your foot to slip..." (Psa. 121:3 NASB1995). Remain in His love. Abide in His love. Refuse to be shifted from His love by anything. Oh! I remember the words of Apostle Paul asking what shall separate us from His love in Romans 8:35! Be still and know that He is God who is able to be there for you even when you've completely failed Him, even when you've completely forgotten about Him but chased after your desires. Remember when King Abimelech wanted to marry Abraham's wife, Sarah, because they had lied and said Sarah is Abraham's sister (Gen. 20:1-16 NASB1995). But the LORD came to the King in a dream and told him not to marry Sarah because she was married. The LORD kept the King's foot from slipping. I know that you run out of strength at times, but I'm here to tell you in this evening that depend in His strength. The LORD said to Zechariah "“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts." (Zech 4:6 NASB1995). Fully depend in His strength. The Apostle Paul said "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might." (Eph. 6:10 ASV) because The Apostle knew very well how the Almighty God carried him. Be strengthened in the might of the Lord my brethren.

Dwelling in His presence
EXODUS 40:36-37 AMPC
In all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the Israelites went onward; But if the cloud was not taken up, they did not journey on till the day that it was taken up.

In all Israelites time, they journeyed with the LORD. He was a hoovering cloud in the day, and at night glowed fire inside the cloud. There was even a time where Moses said "If you don't personally go with us, don't make us leave this place." (Exodus 33:15a NLT). Moses always sought the presence of the LORD. Even the Psalmist shared the same sentiments as Moses and said "And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord." (Psalm 23:6b AMP). Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights in the presence of the and came radiant to an extent that the nation of Israel could not look at him because he was glowing. When we are in His presence, we become all that He is. Seek Him and His presence.

Evening Devotion

Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord , And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]. The wicked [those who live in disobedience to God’s law] are not so, But they are like the chaff [worthless and without substance] which the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand [unpunished] in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord knows and fully approves the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked shall perish.
Psalms 1:1‭-‬6 AMP
