Dear Samaria Mission friends, we have been quiet for a long time! We have been busy with the Lord's work, we just haven't posted about it 😊

We want to let you know that from now on we will post about our Missions endeavours on our Christ Baptist Church page.

Latest ministry update from William and Sharyn Vaughan...

We have had a blessed time together with Pastor Simon Vuragu and Chief Shepherd Baptist Church.

RAIN – We praise the Lord for the rain the He sent to Chikombedzi while we were visiting. The people of this area are subsistence farmers, it has very fertile soil, but if they do not have enough rain then their crops fail. Unfortunately, they have experienced crop failure for several years due to the lack of continued rain. Please pray for continued rain!

GRADUATION - On Saturday, 12 November we held a very special celebration, that of the graduation of the first two groups of students to complete their studies at The Chief Shepherd Bible College. These men applied themselves to their studies and completed well. It was a blessing to have Pastor Charlie, Pastor Member and Pastor Derrick Chauke join us for this celebration. Pastor Charlie and Pastor Member both brought a challenge to those attending, Pastor Charlie – the graduates and Pastor Member – supporting churches. We are so grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to share in this special day. It is such a blessing to see the fruit of the past 5 years of us co-labouring with Pastor Simon Vuragu.

CHURCH PLANT – On Wednesday, 16 November we travelled 56km to the village of Makhanani. This is the village that has been identified by the leadership of Chief Shepherd Baptist Church to plant a church. This area is predominantly Shangaan speaking and there are no evangelical churches in the area. We met with the Chief of the village, and he showed us an area that has been specifically allocated for a church.
Please join us in praying for the planning of this church plant.
Please pray for Hlelani Livombo who has been identified as the church planter/pastor for this area.

1ST YEAR GROUP – the students have completed the curriculum for the first year and we pray that they will return refreshed and ready to take on the challenge of what their 2nd Year of studies will bring.

VURAGU FAMILY – We are so very grateful to the Lord for the opportunity to serve alongside Simon and Emily Vuragu. We continue to pray that the Lord will provide for them as they care for their church and their family.

Thank you for the opportunity to minister alongside our brothers and sisters at Chief Shepherd Baptist Church in Chikombedzi, Zimbabwe. Thank you for your continued prayers for us and our ministry – we covet your prayers.

Your co-labourers in Christ’s Harvest,
William and Sharyn

that the students will end the year well
for the church - that they will continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ
for Pastor Simon and his wife, Emily - that they will remain faithful as they diligently serve the Lord in Chikombedzi. Please pray too for their physical needs, that the Lord will send rain to the area and that He will provide for their daily needs.

This past weekend we held our CBC family camp! What a blessed time we had in fellowship and in the Word.

Attached is a video of our camp site and some photos from the weekend. For those of you that have been to Mozambique... yes, it looks like an outreach and in fact in was an outreach, not in Mozambique, but in Polokwane. Where we camped in the garden at the Mission farm and the outreach was into the new housing development opposite the Mission Farm.

Introducing the Vuragu Family
Simon and Emily – are a team. They work together doing the Lord's work in Chikombedzi, Zimbabwe. They work hard every day, whether it is in ministry or at home. They have a large garden where they grow food for their own needs as well as for sale to the community, Emily also sells items at the local market to help supplement their income.
They have 3 sons, Takunda, Takudzwa and Tafadzwa.
Takunda is in his final year of his studies – the Lord has provided the finances that he needs for the upcoming semester!
Takudzwa has just been notified that he has been accepted into University for this semester! Please join us in praying for the finances needed to cover these expenses.
Tafadzwa is attending boarding school on a full scholarship, but they do have to provide certain items for him to supplement the scholarship. His school is also a fair distance from Chikombedzi and the cost of diesel (as you know) is high.

Please join us in praying for the Vuragu family, pray for this precious pastoral couple as they faithfully serve the Lord in this rural area, pray that our Lord will graciously provide the finances that they need at this time.

CHIEF SHEPHERD BAPTIST CHURCH
JUNE 2022

28 June 2022: We have just returned from the 2nd trip to Zimbabwe for 2022. Once again it was a true blessing to spend time in Chikombedzi. On a selfish note, we are so grateful to the Lord for the excellent border crossings that we have had to date – it is wonderful to get through both the borders smoothly.

Chief Shepherd Baptist Church – the church is doing well, many of their number are struggling to make ends meet in a country that is so very poor, but they are clinging to their Lord and they are also very industrious people that will attempt anything in order to support their families and their pastor.

Chief Shepherd Bible College - One of the subjects that William is teaching the 3rd Year students this year is “Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship”, as a class they went into the town to share the Gospel with those that they came into contact with. They have an assignment to go out and share the Gospel and then report on those visits. Before going out one of the students asked William, “But how do we share the Gospel”. He was able to take time to explain this and also to show them some video material of people doing street evangelism.

The 3rd year students have requested that Simon and Emily spend time with them and their wives, helping to council them in their marriages and in their role of pastor’s wife. This will start from July and it will take place on the Monday before the session starts – in other words on our travel day.

Please pray for Simon and William as they faithfully teach these men each month, as well as the church and its ministries in Chikombedzi.

VISIT TO CHIEF SHEPHERD BAPTIST CHURCH – MAY 2022

Report from William and Sharyn Vaughan (31May 2022)

We are so grateful to the Lord for allowing us to physically be a part of this ministry again. It is a true blessing to be able to spend time with our dear family in Chikombedzi.

CHIEF SHEPHERD BAPTIST CHURCH
The church continues to grow spiritually and numerically. Currently, they only have ministry on Sunday, but they have adult, youth and children’s Sunday school at 10:00 and the church service starts at 11:00. Simon has asked William to help him with some Deacon/Elder training on Sunday mornings, because of this they had a combined adult/youth Sunday school class.

CHIEF SHEPHERD BIBLE COLLEGE
This year there are three 3rd Year students that have returned to complete their studies, they are a diligent, hard working group of guys. They are taught during the day, where they have four 1 1/2 hour sessions, making a total of 6 hours of class time each day.

There are four 1st year students, with a fifth one possibly doing distance learning. These men are all employed, so they have to attend night classes. This makes teaching a little more challenging as they only have 3 hours of teaching each evening, Pastor Simon has decided that they will have a teaching session on Saturday, where they have 6 hours of class time.

We trust that Simon and William will be able to get through the curriculum in the 7 sessions that time has allowed (they usually have 9 sessions each year). Please pray for them as they take on this challenge.

Please join us in praying for these men and for the physical needs of the College and students. And for the physical needs of Chief Shepherd Baptist Church and Pastor Simon Vuragu and his family.

We will be heading back to Zimbabwe next week for the 2nd session, we will report back to you again soon.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

We have just returned from a very fruitful time in Chikombedzi. It was a blessing to be reunited with our brothers and sisters in Christ, after more than two years.
William and Joseph spent much time talking to Pastor Simon about ministry and our continued partnership in ministry in the future.
We praise the Lord for His providence and timely engineering. Lord willing William and Sharyn will turn to Chikombedzi on 16 May 2022. This will be to start the 2022 Academic year for Chief Shepherd Bible College. There are currently four 3rd year students and six enrolled to start 1st year. Please join us in praying for Simon and William as they take on the responsibility of lecturing these men. Pray for the 10 students that will be attending this year’s teaching, pray for diligence in their studies and for provision for finances that are needed.
