SUNDAY SERVICE: MAY 2, 2021
TOPIC: THE PROTOCOL OF PRAYER PART 1
TEXT: ISAIAH 41:21; LUKE 11:1-2
INTRODUCTION:
Prayer is not an attitude, rather an ACT that follows a sequence of how we approach God through a two-way contact involving several components that link both humanity and Divinity. It is established in scripture that prayer follows a specific order and must consist of certain components (Luke 11:1; Matthew 6:5-13).
Otherwise, we shall continue in a venture that yields no result. Therefore, to pray and have results, we must follow the biblical laid down structure. That is why we have to explore the Protocol of Prayer. To understand this, there is need to first know the meaning of PRAYER, which is covered in the first part of this series.
WHAT IS PRAYER?
1. A spiritual communication between man and his Maker (God) – Genesis 18:23-33
2. Man’s expression of confidence in Divinity in the intervention of the welfare of humanity – I John 4:14; Jeremiah 33:3
3. Man’s acknowledgement of his weakness and God’s strength to handle his situation–Luke 18:13-14
4. An address to God through the enablement of the Son–Acts 3: 1-8, 12-13; John 14:13-14
5. A spiritual in*******se between the spirit of man and that of God – John 4:23-24; Psalms 37:4
6. A two-way communication of talking to, and listening to God– Habakkuk 2:1-2; Psalm 18:6
7. An act of fellowship between man and his God – I John 1:3
8. A channel provided by God through which believers’ make known the deepest feelings of their heart to God –Philippians 4:6
CONCLUSION/COUNSEL
One significant thing about prayer is that, it is a result-oriented spiritual activity that involves man and God. Therefore, if we desire to get the needed result, we must approach prayer spiritually (John 4:23-24).
