TO LIVE CHRIST JESUS CRUCIFIED - PERPETUAL OBLATION

Constitution 4 reminds us of the centrality of the Cross in our Oblate Mission, “The cross of Jesus Christ is central to our mission. Like the apostle Paul, we "preach Christ and him crucified".

We pray for our two dear OMISA Scholastics, Br. Sandile Zungu OMI and Br. Thato Ramogkadi OMI as they are nearing in offering themselves perpetually to the Congregation, taking up the Cross of Jesus, may it result in hope of paschal joy and of the new life in Jesus.

Fr. Fernand Jette OMI postulates in his book ‘The Apostolic Man’, that the Evangelical Counsels we profess, promise and vow to following Christ in a radical manner, they concentrate on the three goods which can most take possession of man’s heart. Firstly, they “bind us to the Lord and to his people.” Secondly, they make it possible for us to grow in love. Thirdly, they give a special mark to our community life: “Community is the life-giving reality fashioned by the vows.” May these vows they will be perpetually professing help them in their Mission as Oblates.

May Mary Immaculate, Mother of our Crucified Lord and our Mother, who stood courageously at the foot of the Cross, hold your hand as you will be giving yourselves totally to the Church and the Congregation boldly saying : “Here I am, Lord. I have come to do your will.”

Remember our brothers in your prayers as they prepare to make this lifetime commitment and become fully professed members of holy Institute and Society of the Missionary Oblates of the most Holy and Immaculate Virgin Mary.

🌹 Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – 8 September 🌹

On the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Cebula house of Formation; Cleland. had the privilege of hosting the OMI Southern Africa Provincial Council and the OMI Pietermaritzburg District for their day of recollection and meeting.

It was a blessed opportunity for prayer, reflection, fraternity, and communion in the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod and our Oblate mission.

We are grateful for their presence and for the moments shared with our formation community. May Mary, our Mother and model of discipleship, continue to accompany us in our vocation and mission. 🙏🏽

Today we honor Blessed Józef Cebula, OMI, our house patron at the prenovitiate. A humble priest, teacher and martyr. He remained faithful to Christ and the Church under N**i persecution—celebrating the Eucharist in secret and radiating peace even in the face of death. He gave his life on May 9, 1941 in Mauthausen concentration camp, proclaiming: "It is not you who are in charge. God will judge you."

PRAYER FOR OBLATE VOCATIONS

Holy Father,
we come to you because Jesus asked us to pray
that you send workers into your harvest.
You so loved the world
that you sent your Son
so that we might have the fullness of life.
He in turn sent the Twelve and the apostle Paul
to announce the good news of salvation.
After them, from generation to generation,
you have continued to send workers into the whole world
so that everyone might know you.
Then you chose Saint Eugene
and through him you brought into being a family of missionaries
who have passionately taught “who Christ is”
in every corner of the world
and have established new Christian communities.
More than ever the world needs to know of your merciful love
and needs those who will help the men and women of our time
to “become first of all human beings, and then Christians and finally, saints”.
Therefore, send us generous young men,
passionate for Jesus,
willing to make of their whole life a total oblation to you,
to become close to the poorest and most abandoned,
and to proclaim the Gospel.
May they burn with the same fire that you enkindled in Saint Eugene;
may they come to be part of his family
and, with all the Oblates, may they continue the work of Redemption.
Jesus told us that whatever we ask of you in his name,
you will grant it.
So we make this prayer to you with faith,
sure that you will hear us.
Mary Immaculate,
who first gave Jesus to the world,
be with us as we pray.
