KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli led a Round-Table Duscussion on Illegal Immigration to strengthen social cohesion, lawfully manage Immigration.

The Round-Table Discussion took place at the Archie Gumede Conference Centre, in Mayville under the flagship operation "Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla".

This engagement involved representatives from various government entities, Amakhosi, Religious Sector and civil society.

Provincial Government remains steadfast in its endeavour to ensure prevailing social cohesion, lawfully managing immigration and shaping a future that guarantees safety and security for all.

Presentations made alluded to an urgent need for amendments to the Immigration Act and the Border Management Act to ensure that law enforcement is not limited on enforcement of immigration legislation.

This engagement will culminate at the Provincial Summit on Illegal Immigration that will be convened on 25 June 2026.

PREMIER NTULI TO ENGAGE UNITED NATIONS AGENCIES AND FOREIGN DIPLOMATS ON SOCIAL COHESION, MIGRATION, TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will this week host a series of high-level diplomatic engagements with representatives of the United Nations system and foreign missions as part of the Provincial Government's commitment to strengthening international cooperation, promoting social cohesion, and advancing sustainable development.

These engagements take place as KwaZulu-Natal prepares to convene the Provincial Summit on Undocumented Foreign Nationals on 25 June 2026, a strategic platform aimed at fostering constructive dialogue and developing coordinated responses to migration-related challenges affecting communities across the province.

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, Premier Ntuli will meet with representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), together with officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The meeting, requested by the UNHCR, will focus on opportunities for collaboration in promoting social cohesion, strengthening humanitarian coordination, protecting vulnerable populations, and supporting inclusive community development.

On the same day, Premier Ntuli will receive the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to South Africa, His Excellency Malik Muhammad Farooq. The engagement will explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, economic development, and people-to-people relations.

On Friday, 12 June 2026, the Premier will host the High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to South Africa, Her Excellency Jane Ndurumo. Discussions will centre on strengthening bilateral cooperation and identifying opportunities to deepen economic, commercial, and developmental partnerships between KwaZulu-Natal and Kenya.

These engagements underscore the Provincial Government's commitment to constructive international partnerships that contribute to economic growth, social stability, and shared prosperity, while reinforcing KwaZulu-Natal's position as a globally connected province and a strategic gateway for investment and cooperation on the African continent.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli attended the Moral Regeneration of Hostels Programme at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, on the eve of Africa Day, which the province will commemorate at the Durban Playhouse tomorrow, Monday 25 May 2026.

During the games - which promote social cohesion, peace and harmony among citizens - Premier Ntuli said he noted the frustrations widespread demonstrations of civic organisations which are discouraging the influx of undocumented foreign nationals in the province and in South Africa.

The Premier said he was disturbed that some people are using these demonstrations to spread negative information about KwaZulu-Natal which might destabilise the province and deter investors from injecting investments in the province.

Premier Ntuli called for cool heads to prevail in addressing the issue of illegal immigration, so that the economy and stability of the province are not jeopardised.

PREMIER NTULI TO ATTEND KZN PREMIER’S HOSTEL MORAL REGENERATION SOCCER MATCH.

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will on Sunday, 24 May 2026, attend the KZN Premier’s Hostel Moral Regeneration Soccer Match at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

The match, which will feature Premier’s XI against AmaZulu FC, forms part of the provincial government’s ongoing Moral Regeneration Programme aimed at promoting social cohesion, peace-building, youth development, and positive community engagement within hostel communities and surrounding areas.

This initiative seeks to utilise sport as a powerful instrument for fostering unity, encouraging healthy lifestyles, combating social ills, and strengthening relations among communities across KwaZulu-Natal. The event further underscores the provincial government’s commitment to advancing programmes that empower young people and promote safer, more inclusive communities.

PREMIER NTULI TO LEAD WEEK-LONG STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENTS TO ADVANCE SERVICE DELIVERY, SOCIAL COHESION, AND AFRICAN RENAISSANCE

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, will this week embark on a week-long programme of strategic engagements and public interventions across the province aimed at advancing service delivery, strengthening social cohesion, promoting moral regeneration, and celebrating African unity and identity.

The engagements form part of the Provincial Government’s continued commitment to responsive governance, community development, social transformation, and inclusive economic participation across KwaZulu-Natal.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life of communities through sustainable infrastructure development, Premier Ntuli will on Thursday officially hand over a completed water infrastructure project at Vimbukhalo Sports Ground under the uKhahlamba Local Municipality. The project is expected to significantly enhance access to clean and reliable water for surrounding communities while addressing long-standing water supply challenges in the area.

On Friday, the Premier will lead the Provincial Prayer Gathering at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Stadium in Ulundi. The gathering forms part of the Provincial Government’s broader efforts to foster social unity, moral regeneration, peace-building, and spiritual renewal throughout KwaZulu-Natal. The event is expected to bring together faith-based organisations, traditional leadership, community formations, and residents from across the province in a collective call for unity and social healing.

On Sunday, the Premier will attend the final of the Premier’s Hostel Moral Regeneration Games at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu. The final fixture, to be contested between Hostel 11 and AmaZulu FC, forms part of government-led interventions aimed at strengthening social cohesion, promoting positive youth development, preventing crime, and fostering peaceful coexistence within hostel communities through sport and recreation.

On Monday, 25 May 2026, Premier Ntuli will lead the provincial commemoration of Africa Day, reaffirming KwaZulu-Natal’s commitment to celebrating African unity, shared identity, cultural heritage, and the continent’s democratic and developmental aspirations.

Later on the day , the Premier will participate in the African Renaissance engagement scheduled to take place at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban. The engagement will focus on advancing continental development, economic transformation, cultural affirmation, and strengthening African solidarity in pursuit of a prosperous and self-determined future for the continent.

Premier Ntuli remains firmly committed to building a united, inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous KwaZulu-Natal through active engagement with communities, strategic stakeholders, and all sectors of society.

KZN COMMUNITY SAFETY AND LIAISON LEADS ENGAGEMENT TO RESOLVE VERIFICATION OF FOREIGN NATIONAL IMPASSE

KwaZulu-Natal Head of Department Ms. Nokuthula G Khanyile alongside eThekwini Metro Mayor, Cllr. Cyril Xaba led a fruitful engagement that successfully resolved an ongoing impasse that saw throngs of foreign nationals flock to the Diakonia Council of Churches Centre in Durban citing that they feared for their safety in their residential areas following growing calls for stricter enforcement of the immigration act.

Today's engagement with representatives of foreign nationals resolved that eThekwini Municipality must forthwith provide bases to ferry these foreign nationals to the Home Affairs offices located in Moore Road in Durban where their documents will be verified.

The Head of Department assured all concerned stakeholders that law enforcement and community safety structures will ensure that this process goes on without any hindrances.

PREMIER NTULI URGES COMMUNITY SAFETY STRUCTURES TO BE LEAD AGENTS FOR CRIME PREVENTION

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli says community safety structures must be at the forefront of intensified crime prevention strategies and interventions to ensure that crime is eradicated.

Ntuli welcomed more than 150 newly trained members from various community crime prevention structures at Mnqobokazi area, ward 1 under the Big 5 Hlabisa Local Municipality, earlier today.

Honourable Ntuli commends the spirit of volunteerism shown by community members who have dedicated their lives to crime prevention and community development.

Premier Ntuli reiterates goverment's commitment to capacitate and professinalise community safety structures to ensure they are better prepared to tackle any challenges in their pursuit of a crime free environment.

Furthermore, Ntuli cautioned these members to guard against being infiltrated by criminal elements.

Honourable Ntuli urges these crime fighting volunteers to always be on the right side if the law.

" You should always work within the ambits of the law. We will not be lenient towards any member who is found to have broken the law", says Ntuli.
