It is with deep sorrow that we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Elder Freda Daniels on her sudden passing, as well as to the Assembly of AFM Portlands. During this difficult time of bereavement, we pray that God’s presence, comfort, and peace surround you all, giving strength and hope in the midst of grief.

Elder Freda served with unwavering dedication and faithfulness as the Assembly Secretary and treasurer at AFM Portlands and as the Regional Children’s Ministry Treasurer for many years. Her commitment, diligence, and love for the Lord were evident in all that she did, and her contributions have left a lasting impact on our church and community. She was not only a faithful servant of God but also a source of encouragement, guidance, and inspiration to many.

Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life lived in service to God and His people. Elder Freda’s legacy of faithfulness, humility, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed, but her memory and the fruit of her labors will forever remain in our hearts.

May the Lord grant the family, the Assembly, and all who loved her the comfort that only He can give, and may you find hope in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Today our assembly mourns the sudden passing of our Elder Freda Daniels. Secretary, Treasurer, Children's Ministry Superintendent, and Regional Children's Ministry Treasurer. Our hearts as a church are heavy at this loss. To say you have laboured well, will be an understatement as you exceeded the word "well". We will miss you dearly but you deserve the rest.
We convey our sincerest condolences to Nazan, his wife and the rest of the family. We mourn with you. May the Holy Spirit comfort and strengthen you in this difficult time. 🕊🕊🕊

THE STRENGTH AND LOVE OF MOTHERS

On this Mother’s Day 2025, we reflect on the strength and love of mothers through the story of Naomi, a woman in the Bible who faced deep loss but continued to show courage and faith. Naomi lost her husband and two sons, leaving her with two daughters-in-law and no clear future. Despite her sorrow, she carried on, showing the quiet strength so many mothers have: The ability to keep going even when life is hard.

Naomi encouraged her daughters-in-law to return home to find happiness, putting their needs before her own. Ruth, however, chose to stay with Naomi, moved by the life and faith Naomi had modelled. Later, Naomi helped guide Ruth to a new beginning with Boaz, and eventually became a grandmother to Obed, the grandfather of King David.

Naomi’s story reminds us that even in seasons of grief and uncertainty, God can restore and use our lives in powerful ways. Just like Naomi, mothers today leave a lasting legacy, not only through what they say but through how they live. I acknowledge and thank every mother for the continuous commitment to the well-being and growth of their families.

Whether you are a mother, grandmother, or mentor, your love, sacrifices, and faith shape the future. Your story and the difference you make matter - and it is not over yet.
