Sunday Sermon Recap

30/08/2026

Esther approached an earthly king knowing that she might die. Jesus went deliberately to the cross knowing that He would give His life.

Esther pleaded for her people. Jesus stood in the place of sinners, bore our sin and rose again so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God.

The message is not simply, “Be brave like Esther and save the day.”

Our hope is Jesus Christ.

We do not obey to earn God’s favour. We obey because grace has already found us in Christ. We do not carry the burden of being anyone’s saviour—we belong to the Saviour.

Join us at AFM Impact Christian Centre as we worship Jesus and learn to live faithfully for His purposes.

SEEK THE PEACE OF THE CITY | Jeremiah 29:1–14

What would it look like if AFM Impact did not merely gather in Midrand, but actually became a blessing to Midrand?
In Jeremiah 29, God tells His people in exile not simply to survive where they are, but to live faithfully, pray for the city, and seek its good.

That same challenge speaks to us today.
We are called to be faithful in our homes, workplaces, schools, businesses, streets and communities. We are called to pray for the places where God has positioned us and to live as visible witnesses of Jesus Christ.

And while we serve the present city, our ultimate hope remains in Christ and His coming Kingdom.
This message asks a simple but important question:
Am I merely living in Midrand, or am I living here as someone sent by Jesus?

Watch the full sermon and consider one practical step you can take this week to bless the place where God has planted you.

You may not be able to solve the whole problem—but you can take the next faithful step.

You can make one phone call.

You can encourage one person.

You can serve one family.

You can begin one necessary conversation.

You can stand beside someone who feels alone.

Esther could not control the king, Haman or everything happening beyond the palace. Her responsibility was faithful obedience. God remained responsible for the outcome.

Do not overlook ordinary acts of obedience while waiting for a dramatic assignment. Ask Jesus to show you what faithfulness looks like today—and then take that step.
