*WHAT IS MAN?*
*PSALM 8:4* What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
The psalmist asked one of the most important questions that I want us to look at today. You’d agree with me that out of all the animals and out of all living creatures, there is no creature that is like man( human beings, both male and females). But what is it that sets us apart? To answer this, let look at genesis 2:7 “ And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Form the beginning, God's great desire was to have communion and fellowship with man, so God created man and placed him in a physical/material world. In order for man to communicate and have a tangible relationship with this physical world, so God created man with a "physical" body capable of such communication. But God is "Spirit," John 4:24, so man had to have that dimension in him in order to be able to communicate with God in who is spirit, therefore, God also created him with a spirit dimension.
At creation, God placed the spirit of man within his body and the union of these two, spirit and body, produced a third dimension within man, his "soul." The Scripture says, "Man became a living soul." A soul," stood between two worlds and belonged to both. Through his body, man was linked to the visible, physical earthly world around him and through his spirit he was linked to the spiritual, eternal, and heavenly world of God Himself.
God formed man’s body out of the earth and equipped it with five senses. After He formed the body, God breathed into it the breath of life. This breath of life is a man's spirit and this spirit enabled man to be in relationship to the unseen, spiritual world, where God is. With the union of man's body and spirit, he became a living soul. The soul is that aspect of man's being that interprets or develops the impressions of the external world around him, where his senses, thoughts, emotions, and desire resides.
*Man's spirit* is the seat of his God consciousness - where God dwells,
*Man's soul* is the seat of his self-consciousness - where self-dwells
*Man's body* is the seat of his world consciousness - where his senses dwells
Man is not a body, he has a body, he dwells within a body, man is a living soul. In summary, a Man is a spirit, who dwells in a body and has a soul.
*John 4:24* “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. When we accept Christ in our lives, as our Lord and Savior, our spirit man gets born again John 3:5, our bodies remains the same and our souls begins a new expedition, to be like Jesus. True worships happens when on a daily basis we engage ourselves to feed our spirit and soul with the word, prayer and worship.
*PRAYER* : Lord Jesus, I need to worship you in truth and in spirit, create in me a new heart, a heart that desires to serve you in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Yours in Christ
