It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Senior Pastor, mentor, teacher, spiritual father, and servant of God, Dr Dumile Matshika.
As the Serving Heaven Baptist Church family, together with the Baptist churches and his family, we are mourning a great loss. Rev Matshika dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the Word of God faithfully, and guiding many souls in their spiritual journey.
We will always remember his powerful teachings about our new identity in Christ. He taught us that we are ambassadors of Christ, believers, beloved of God, brethren, and Christians. He reminded us that we are fellow heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ, brothers and sisters in the Lord, and saints called to live lives that glorify God.
Rev Matshika also taught us with great wisdom that life is a journey appointed by God, reminding us that there is “a time to be born and a time to die” as written in Ecclesiastes 3:2. He encouraged us to live lives that honor the Lord, knowing that for those who belong to Christ, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal rest in His presence. He comforted us with the assurance that those who die in the Lord are reunited with Him, and that the faithful can look forward to everlasting life through Jesus Christ. His teachings brought peace, hope, and understanding during life’s most difficult moments.
He boldly taught the Word of God without compromise and reminded us never to be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. He also encouraged believers to remain faithful and obedient to God, teaching that the promise of entering His rest still stands for those who trust in Him and walk according to His Word.
His life was a true example of faithfulness, humility, and obedience to God. He lived to glorify the Lord and encouraged us to remain blameless before God by keeping His Word.
Though our hearts are broken, we will forever carry his words, teachings, and legacy in our hearts.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
