Sunday's Message: A Prevailing Kingdom
Scriptural References: Daniel 2:34-35, Jeremiah 29:4-14
a) When God seek to manifest His glory, He will cause the occurrence of situations that only He can solve.
- The Israelites were taken and held captive by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, as God's judgment of their sin of not keeping the Sabbath years.
- But although their captivity was His doing, He still assured them that He had great plans for them, which were not of harm, but able to produce a good hope and a future.
b) The kingdoms of this world, no matter how strong they can get, they'll always have a weak point. (Hence the succession of the world's kingdoms from Babylonian to the Roman Empire degenerated in terms of the strength of their rule.)
- God gives a long rope to leaders who assume their reign and majesty to be their own doing. And at the set time, He issues His judgment on them in a way that only He can.
- Nebuchadnezzar's reign was established by God, his fall was preceded by his wicked thought to thinking that it was his doing that caused his fame to terrify nations.
- And God used a vision/dream to make him aware of his fall before pride even manifested in his heart. (It wasn't like it was his first time dreaming, but this dream troubled him so much, he sought for an intervention like no other. To the point of even threatening his subjects with death if they fail to help him.)
c) When the Kingdom of God hit the earth, all other kingdoms of the earth are outnumbered and overruled. And His Kingdom shall expand and consummate all the existing ones until they are untraceable.
* The Kingdom of God now invades the earth by us through our faith in Christ Jesus. (The text prefigures the Lord Jesus Christ, but now He works out the Father's Will by those who believe in Him.)
