Taking God at His Word

“And the Lord said, “The outcry [of the sin] of S***m and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. ”. Genesis 18:20,(AMP)

We all love to hear about God’s mercy, grace and long-suffering, but we do not want to face the fact that someday God will come against everything that is of S***m.

God revealed his nature to Moses this way: “The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin’”(Exodus 34:6-7)
In the very next phrase, God added, “By no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation” (Exodus 34:7b). The Lord was saying, “I will not wink at sin. Yes, I am merciful and long-suffering, but the time is coming when my patience with your sin will end. That is when S***m will burn.”

Two angels came to Lot and warned him, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city” (Genesis 19:15).

Apparently, Lot did not take this warning seriously because he slept in the next morning, and the angels had to rouse him. His sons-in-law must have thought, “If he really believed the warning, he would be on his way out of here. He doesn’t believe it, so why should we?”

This should be a lesson to us all. We need to live as if Christ is about to return so that others will listen to our witness.

I believe in what are called “divine ultimatums,” times when the Holy Spirit knows your sin is about to bring you to ruin. The Lord comes to you and says, “I am the God of grace, and I want to deliver you out of this. Now, turn from your sin. Obey my Word!”

These ultimatums are found throughout the Bible. It does not matter how much you pray or fast or how faithful you are in doing God’s work; if you do not believe God will deal seriously with your sin, you are deceived!🙏🏾

GOD KEEEPS HIS PROMISES

“…Not one word has failed of all His good promise, which He spoke through Moses His servant.” 1 Kings‬ ‭8‬:‭56‬ ‭

If there is one thing that history teaches us , it is that God is absolutely faithful. If He promises something, He does it, even though it sometimes takes a long time for His promises to be fulfilled.

God promised Abraham He would lead him to the promised land and cause a great nation to come forth from him. Her promised Moses that He would help him to lead the people out of Egypt…

In the desert He faithfully cared for His people.He provided them with manna.quail and water whenever they needed it…

The Lord remains true to the promises contained in His Word to the very day. Go ahead and identify a promises relevant to your situation, believe it and run with it , and know the Lord will fulfill each one of them at the appointed time.

You can also remind God of His promises: “You who call on the Lord, give yourself no rest, and give Him no rest” Isaia 62:6🙏🏾

COMMIT YOUR LIFE TO THE LORD

‘Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart’-Psalm 37:4-5

This psalm is a song of the future, a song about God’s promises to His children who find themselves in the midst of different circumstances , some beyond their control🤔.Whatever situations we find ourselves in we know that we can continue to live and work peacefully because we know who our God is. As the scripture says ‘people who know their God will be strong and will do exploits🤩

Three important things that will help us through life according to this psalms include: trusting in God (v.3),delighting self in God (v.4)and entrusting the management of your life to God (v.5)❤️

We do not have to envy unbelievers or be upset by the fact that things go so much better for them than for us by (Proverbs 24:19), but we must always remember that suffering draws us closer to God, otherwise how will know that he is a deliverer🤔Your circumstances should never determine your happiness. Happiness resides in the hearts of people who are in sync with God. Commit your life to God🙏🏾

A KINGDOM KEY-Matthew 28:16-20

“The church’s Great Commission is born in a context of worship”.

Jesus calls His disciples to go to people of all nations and teach them how to know Him and live for Him🤔

If Jesus return is delayed it’s because our commission to preach the gospel and make more disciples in all nations has not yet been fulfilled🤔

Churches preach about anything and everything- prosperity, deliverance, healing - to name but a few- but how many preach the gospel of the kingdom of God?
Where are the workers🤔-Matthew 9:35-38

Many people go to church because they want ‘fire insurance’, they want to make sure they don’t go to hell.After a while they get bored and backslide or look for another fix somewhere. Why is that🤔

The Kingdom of God is all about the power…Luke 24: 49

Jesus had only commissioned them as witnesses but promised enabling power
All believers need to ask and expect God to empower them to be able to carry the mandate of the Kingdom Of God which is the key to it🙏🏾

TOTAL DEPENDENCE I N GOD

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Nothing beats dependency on God. Anyone who knows that they are dependent on God for everything will always be content and fulfilled no matter the situations and or circumstances they go through.

People who are dependent in God are those who have discovered and accepted their bankruptcy, people who know that without God they are nothing and they have nothing.

At times when things are going well for us we tend to think that we do not need God but that’s not the case. Whether we acknowledge it or not,believe or not we need Him and we are because He is.

We are dependent on Him the same way as we are dependent on oxygen for our lives because He is not only the giver of life but He is life in totality-
“for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬🙏🏾

Vindicate me, O LORD my God according to your righteousness …Psalm 35:24

There is nothing refreshing as waking up in the morning knowing that God has got you.

Challenges and obstacles are a part of life and these sometimes come in the form of people you interact with daily, friends colleagues and at times even family members. But the confidence you have that God is on your side will definitely help you pull through .

Whatever we ask Him, believing , in the name of Jesus He will definitely give us cause he has our best interest at heart. Guilt feelings are not supposed to derail us from our faith. We need to stand tall walk tall and trust in His word. God is in control and He will not let us be put to shame. Not now not ever. Jesus Christ’s blood has done it all.

I know I am justified by His good deeds so I can testify that I belong to him🙏🏾

I am still alive🙏🏾

‘I love the Lord…’Psalm 116

Relationship with God is very important in our lives. Acknowledging Him and His loving kindness, grace and mercy in our lives help strengthen our inner person’s growth.

‘I love the Lord’ is the exact response God’ s heart desires as a result of His interventions in our lives. It is a fulfilment of the royal law and a perfect thank you.

I am alive not because I am intelligent smarter or better than the next person but because God is upholding me. No matter what I go through He is with me.

There is something about relationship with God that will always keep you going no matter what. Something that will cause you to hold on, stand up and dust yourself up when you fall. Something that will help you bounce back and declare victory over circumstances…speak in faith- not circumstances but relationship🤔. Not letting circumstance dictate how you feel💪🏽

Relationship does not mean you do not get shaken or feel like quitting sometimes but something inside you push you to keep on keeping on🙏🏾. Something that says ‘In spite of it all I will get through whatever. In spite of the catastrophe I still need God’.

Yeah🤩I am still alive🙏🏾

BECAUSE WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS
1John 3:22-23

‘And whatever we ask we receive of Him because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, That we believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another as He gave us commandment’

God does not just hand over blessings carte blanche as many of us (believers or non- believers) presume. There are conditions to answered prayers and one of which is that we habitually’keep His commandments and do things that are pleasing in His sight’. John is not necessarily referring to the Ten Commandments in this passage (although God says these are written on the tablets of our hearts and we instinctively keep them by walking with Him). John is specifically talking about the two commandments given by Jesus that moves us to higher plane of living- to believe in God’s only Son Jesus Christ and to love one another.

There is no other way to have a relationship with God but through Jesus Christ and we must love one another. Real love is more than lip service. It is the love described in 1Corinthians 13 and it’s really a daunting checklist because we fall sooo short of God’s love🤔. Only by prayer can we press towards that goal of perfect goal of loving as God loves🙏

KNOW YOUR GOD -Daniel 11:27-33

We need to know our God -each one of us. You need to know your God. I need to know my God. There is only one God but each person has their own concept of God.

God is His word and His name is Jehovah. The knowledge of God is not equal to familiarity with God. God is His word and not sentiments, impressions or emotions

“the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits” v 32 that is the plus of knowing your God not only will you be strong but you will carry out great exploits. You will be strong ‘ in the power of His might ’ and will carry out exploits ’ not by might or power but by the Spirit of the Lord ‘ that will be inspiring you in whatever endeavour.

Your exploits -brave and exciting actions that will be admired by people will with no doubt bring glory and honour to your God and He will be exalted more and more in your life and through your life.
Brave and mighty men of valour that did exploits in time of the Bible knew their God and since our God is the same yesterday today and forever we also can emulate those brave and mighty men even today never mind the circumstances we find ourselves in.

‘ those who stay courageously loyal to their God will take a strong stand. Those who keep their heads straight will teach the crowds right from wrong by their examples’ - we need to be strong and remember that we are letters that are read by many and what they read is a lesson to them.

Tap into your inner being, call on the name of your God and you will be able to do anything you set your mind to do, as long as you do it in the name of your God🙏

‘No other gods’-Exodus 20: 3

Idols have taken a disguise. People worship different things, tangible things not to mention people. We dedicate our lives and times to impressing them and allowing them to vindicate us,their opinions determine our self worth.

We have shed tears over them- birthed blessings we do not enjoy because we concern about being right or maintaining the ‘status quo’-doing the right thing for the wrong reason.

Just like Leah -Genesis 29:31-35 we busy chasing after a mirage. Praise God 3 sons later she reached a level of maturity and took her focus from Jacob and started focusing on God. For a long time her main focus was on Jacob’s love- her area of vulnerability- yearning for it and forgetting the one who is love itself- the giver not only of love but life, the healer of hearts-Jehovah God the creator.

It’s time we realise that when God said NO OTHER GODS He meant just that. Our God is a jealous God-He shares His glory with no other and nothing or no one can replace Him. He alone is God and there is no other. Leah realised that hence when she received her fourth son she said “Now I will praise the Lord.”

It’s time we make a decision to praise our creator. He created us and He is our keeper. We are because He is. Our focus should be on Him because He is ever lasting . Whatever is tangible is temporal and He is eternal🙏
