🌸 ASHES TO BEAUTY – THE STORY OF CLAUDIA SCHMIDT 🌸

At 49 years old, Claudia Schmidt is a powerful reminder that no life is ever beyond restoration. With her bubbly personality and deep love for people, Claudia fills the AC2C home with warmth β€” always ready with a hug, always willing to listen, always caring for those around her. πŸ’›

As our house manager, Claudia not only oversees the daily operations of AC2C, but also serves in our call centre, offering compassion and a safe space to anyone in need of a listening ear. Her heart for people is undeniable β€” but her journey has not been easy.

Growing up in a loving family, Claudia struggled with a deep sense of not belonging. In her search for love, she turned to the wrong places, leading to 28 years of addiction. Her journey with AC2C first began in 2005, where she encountered the love of God through Pastor Dennis and Wilna Dekenah. For a season, she found healing β€” but life took another painful turn through a toxic relationship, addiction, and abuse.

In the midst of heartbreak, her children were placed in loving homes, and Claudia found herself lost once again…
But this is not where her story ends. With courage and determination, Claudia returned to AC2C with one goal: to rebuild her relationship with her Heavenly Father and restore her life and family. Today, after 2 years of incredible growth, Claudia stands as a testimony of hope, healing, and transformation. πŸ™

Her dream?
✨ To become a counsellor, helping others break free from addiction and depression β€” just as she did.

πŸ’” THE NEED IS REAL β€” BUT SO IS THE IMPACT

Because of incredible individuals like Claudia, we are able to serve those who come to us for food, counselling, shelter, and hope. Together with partners like MES in Kempton Park, we are reaching the broken β€” but the need is growing every day.

Claudia currently shares our House of Safety with 15 others, each with their own story of hardship and restoration. As a registered NPO/PBO, our resources are limited, and we rely completely on the support of our community.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There are businesses that provide a service, and then there are businesses that truly invest in the heartbeat of their community. Stardust Hair Design in Glen Marais is undeniably the latter.

Beyond their obvious talent and professionalism, the team showed incredible generosity today by sponsoring AC2C (Another Chance to Change). They provided more than just high-quality haircuts; they hosted us with genuine warmth, offering delicious coffee, tea, and some of the best banana bread you’ll find in Kempton Park.

A massive thank you to the wonderful team who made this possible: Clara, Shaloo, Lynette, Andria, Stefanie, Shylene, Simone, Kae-lynn, and DonΓ©. It is rare to find a group that balances a stylish, welcoming atmosphere with such a strong sense of social responsibility.

If you are looking for a salon that is as skilled with a pair of shears as they are kind-hearted, I cannot recommend Stardust Hair Design enough. Thank you for supporting our mission and for "restoring the gold" in our community!

🌟 MEET GREG MEYER – A STORY OF HOPE, FAITH & SECOND CHANCES 🌟

Meet Greg Meyer (38) β€” a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. Friendly, humble, and always willing to help, Greg was born and raised in Kempton Park and is known by many. Life, however, dealt him an unexpected hand. After losing his job and having no family support, Greg spent 7 years living on the streets, the last 4 years at MES Homeless Shelter in Kempton Park.

It was at MES that we came to know Greg β€” not with fanfare, but quietly, as he began touching hearts with his compassion and love. We saw something special in him and offered him a position in our call centre. Through hard work and dedication, Greg immediately made an impact. His passion and potential caught the attention of our founders and spiritual leaders, Pastor Dennis & Wilna Dekenah, who invested time and training into his life. Today, Greg serves as one of our trained counselors in our local schools, already making a powerful difference in the lives of our children. πŸ™βœ¨

Although we are registered with the Department of Education, we receive no government funding and rely solely on our local community. We currently house Greg and 5 other men , as well as 9 women in our house of safety. While we provide shelter and food β€” generously donated by local Spars, de Wickus and Edleen β€” our resources are limited, and we often struggle to provide toiletries and clothing.

We are a registered PBO/NPO, serving our community since 2009.
If you would like to invest in Greg’s future and help grow our threefold ministry, please contact our offices on
πŸ“ž 011 025 6845 to find out how you can partner with us.

πŸ’› One life changed can change many. Thank you for helping us restore dignity, purpose, and hope.

🌟 FINDING THE GOLD IN OUR YOUTH 🌟

At AC2C – Another Chance to Change, we believe that every young person carries gold within them β€” sometimes hidden by pain, circumstance, or lack of support, but always worth discovering.
We are incredibly proud to share that AC2C has successfully completed the first round of training for our School of Honour counsellors πŸŽ“πŸ‘

These dedicated individuals have stepped forward with a heart to serve, learn, and grow β€” and are now being prepared to be placed as counsellors in our local schools.

Through our School of Honour project, we focus on:
✨ Healing and emotional support
✨ Identity, purpose, and values
✨ Mentorship and guidance
✨ Creating safe spaces for our youth to be heard and seen

The moments captured during this training reflect more than just learning β€” they show connection, growth, courage, and commitment. This is where future leaders are shaped, and where hope is planted in the hearts of our children.

πŸ’› When we invest in those who guide our youth, we invest in the future of our communities.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed for, and believed in this journey. This is only the beginning β€” and the impact will reach far beyond the classroom.

✨ Together, we are finding the gold in our youth. ✨

πŸ’™ AC2C HOUSE OF SAFETY – WHERE HOPE FINDS A HOME πŸ’™

Every day, behind the gates of AC2C’s House of Safety, lives are quietly being restored.

This is more than a building β€” it is a place of refuge, dignity, and second chances for women and children who arrive broken by abuse, trauma, homelessness, and despair. Here, they find safety, warm meals, gentle care, and the space to begin healing again.

One of the women currently in our House of Safety arrived with nothing but the clothes she and her child were wearing. Fleeing an unsafe situation, she had nowhere else to turn. Today, she sleeps in a safe bed, her child laughs freely again, and together they are walking a journey of healing through counselling, structure, and love.

At AC2C, we see this every day β€” fear slowly replaced with trust, hopelessness with purpose, and brokenness with renewed faith.

As shared in our Ashes to Beauty Safe House, women like Tannie Annetjie found a home again after years of living on the streets. After begging at the same intersection for almost a decade and surviving a hit‑and‑run accident, she now has a warm bed, meals, fellowship, and dignity β€” something she once believed was lost forever.

πŸ™ But we cannot do this alone.

Keeping the doors of our House of Safety open requires ongoing support β€” for food, toiletries, clothing, transport to clinics, counselling resources, and essential maintenance. Every contribution helps restore a life.

🀝 How you can support AC2C’s House of Safety:
πŸ’™ R1 500 – R3 000 per month helps care for one woman and her child
πŸ’™ Donations qualify for Section 18A tax certificates
πŸ’™ Corporate partners receive B‑BBEE SED / ESG recognition

πŸ’™ Celebrating a Life of Service | Wendy Labuschagne πŸ’™

Wendy Labuschagne (63) joined the AC2C family in December 2022, and from the very beginning she has been an incredible blessing to everyone around her. Wendy truly reflects the love, compassion, and servant heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, living out His teachings not only in words, but in action every single day. ✨

With a deep desire to better understand our Heavenly Father’s will for our lives, Wendy completed Theologos Counselling and Healing Network courses, presented through OASIS – House of the Father Church. Since then, she has been passionately committed to Holy Spirit‑led teaching, reading, and ministry, allowing God to continually shape her journey.

Wendy recently had the privilege of serving the people of Robertson in the Western Cape during a powerful revival outreach hosted by Heaven and Earth Church. She returned home with a renewed fire to serve the Lord and a dream of one day stepping into full‑time evangelical ministry in Hermanus. πŸ”₯πŸ™

Her passion for Christ is clearly visible in the faithful work she does in our AC2C Call Centre, where she assists with fundraising for our life‑changing projects:

🏠 House of Safety – shelter and restoration for disadvantaged women and children
πŸŽ“ School of Honour – healing, identity, and restoration for school children
🍞 Meet the Need – providing food parcels to struggling families in our community

Every day at AC2C, someone knocks on our door β€” hungry, hurting, in need of counselling, or simply searching for a safe place to sleep. Thanks to the dedication and faithfulness of people like Wendy, we are able to meet some of these needs. Together with partners like MES Kempton Park, we are doing what we can β€” but the need continues to grow daily.

πŸ’” We cannot do this alone.
✨ But together, we can do so much more.
