When Faith Stepped Out
This is for the person who knows Jesus is calling you, but the water still looks frightening.
Maybe your heart wants to obey, but fear keeps asking, “What if I sink?”
Maybe God is inviting you to step out of comfort, step out of delay, step out of doubt, and trust His voice in a place that does not feel safe.
The Bible says,
“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”
Matthew 14:29
Let that settle in your heart today.
Peter walked on water because Jesus called him.
The storm was still there.
The waves were still moving.
The boat was still behind him.
But one word from Jesus was stronger than everything around him.
“Come.”
That word gave Peter courage to step where human strength could never stand.
That is what faith does.
Faith does not pretend the waves are not real.
Faith listens for the voice of Jesus above the sound of the storm.
Maybe you are standing at the edge of a step you know God is asking you to take.
Maybe fear has been telling you to stay where it is comfortable.
Maybe doubt has been reminding you of everything that could go wrong.
But do not let the water speak louder than Jesus.
If He calls you, He will meet you there.
If He says come, His presence is already stronger than the storm.
And even if your faith trembles, His hand is still able to save.
Peter’s story is not only about walking on water.
It is about keeping your eyes on Jesus.
When he looked at the wind, he began to sink.
But when he cried out, Jesus immediately reached for him.
That means one weak moment does not cancel the mercy of God.
One fearful step does not make Jesus abandon you.
One sinking season is not the end when the Savior is near.
May the Lord give you courage to step where He is calling you.
May He quiet fear, strengthen your faith, and teach your heart to keep looking at Jesus in every storm.
And may your soul rest in this truth: Peter walked water, because one word from Jesus can hold you up where fear said you would fall .
