This is one of the best books around the way we form and maintain relationships - to understand, heal and change.

In this transformational book, the authors have used ground-breaking research to develop four primary patterns of relating to one another that shed light on our actions--and how we can learn to love and be loved even better.

I'll be in South Africa during July (2017).

What do you like? Like a lot? What is it that you don't like?
These are some of the questions that contributes to our sense of self or identity if we pay attention to our answers over time on a regular basis.
On a local, recent note - I'm enjoying my awareness of the fact that I don't like pork - simply because I didn't know that about myself 22-25 years ago, when I really battled to embrace different foods. There is freedom in that.
What is it that moves your spirit - and that forms the pathways to deeper connections with God? I love the ocean - while finding that big, rushing waves are actually part of that. Like big, rushing waterfalls. I love nature - birds, forests, mountains...
Arthur Burk builds out these ideas from different angles in teachings such as PTSD & Accessing Intimacy with God. Suddenly I wish I could also go to the bookshelf to page through Gary Chapman's - The love languages of God. (A quick google shows a more recent one I missed.)
Let's ask ourselves - back to the basic questions - do you know that God loves you? Do you know that you are precious to Him? Yes - the traumas, shame and bruises makes that very difficult for so many people. I ask your spirit to come forward and ask God to engage directly with you in the key of music so to speak - in the connections that would reach you - and show you your worth. I would like to encourage your spirit to keep awareness up - check out what God's doing, showing and saying - from the distance that feels safe ... moving closer when you can. I listened to spirit blessings for over two years before it went past huge firewalls I didn't know were there. May you tune into the broadcast frequency that has your name on it.

It's been quite a while since I've posted. During 2016 God asked me (again) to say "yes" to His plan for my life ... without giving me details of what that would be. It was a little scary but that's part of what the stuff of faith and trust involves. Yip I'm also still growing! Growth and healing is a life-long journey.
It turned out to include another season in Taiwan that came about rather fast. I had an interview on the 4th of Nov and flew out on the 2nd of Dec. I've been settling down. I'll be teaching mostly while doing some Skype connects. Spirit work spans continents in the presence of the Holy Spirit. It's really awe inspiring to be part of what God does in others lives. Back in South Africa clients are seeing either Wendy Kaufman for psychotherapy or Harry James (in the Little Falls office) for pastoral counselling.

I've been very impressed by the insight and change generated through the books "For women only. What you need to know about the inner lives of men" by Shaunti Feldhahn and "For men only. A straightforward guide to the inner lives of women" by Shaunti and her husband Jeff Feldhahn. (Available from www.loot.co.za)

The year is running out so fast - I see it's been a while since I've posted. The courses that ran earlier this year were a real pleasure - both the Foundations of counselling for teachers, and the Facing loss and Grief course that ran at Welties. I'm looking forward to developing a "growth and healing" course for Welties and improving the "Facing loss and grief" one for next year.

Today's book from David Cook:)

Even if we have it all, it’s never enough. This study guide looks at the book of Ecclesiastes, and explores Solomon’s profound insights on finding true satisfaction in life.

Encouraging our spirits to turn to God, I pray that He will instruct and teach us in the way(s) that we should go - please counsel us and watch over us. (see Ps32:8).

I'm so looking forward to the upcoming "Facing grief and loss" course at Weltevreden Methodist church next week!

I've this gem for a while but am only getting to read it now!

It sees the real focus of forgiving not in individualistic release from guilt and proof of goodness, but in inter-personal reconciliation, wholeness and life together in Christian community.

I seriously enjoyed my graduation last week!
