Pass the buton of faith to the next generation - The Legacy of Faith

Mother's day sermon notes.

2 Timothy 1:5
5 I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.
-Paul commends Timothy for the faith passed down from his mother and grandmother.

Philippians 4:9: What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

1 Timothy 6:6
“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Proverbs 13:22
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children . .

-And an inheritance isn’t limited to money. An inheritance also includes godly character qualities.

Genesis 22:18
And in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.

Psalm 112:1–3
"Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.”

Psalm 145:4
“One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty works.”

Deuteronomy 11:18-20 says, “Commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Titus 2:4
Older women must train the younger women.

Lessons learned from the above scriptures:

-Fear and obey the Lord: Always obey and fear the Lord; the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord (Psalm 111:10).
-Modeling a life of devotion is the most powerful teaching tool you possess. Your life provides the "blueprint" for others to follow.
-Living a holy life is the best way to pass legacy to the next generation.
-Your personal conduct and domestic life are a living testimony that speaks louder than words.

-True mentorship is a Lifestyle

Share the Journey: Be transparent about your walk with God. Sharing your journey helps others navigate their own.
-Your personal stories of God’s faithfulness through "storms" or difficulties are powerful tools that provide hope to the next generation.
-Studying the Bible together helps teach the next generation how to rely on God.
-Godly legacy requires intentional, verbal, and practical investment in those coming after you.
-Train with Intention: Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
-It involves consistent modeling of the biblical truth.
-Mentoring the next generation is the best way to pass on the spiritual blessings you have received.
-Passing the baton of faith requires intentionally living out a personal, active relationship with God to create a lasting legacy for the next generation.

-Teach others: The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2

Do not be afraid. Only believe.

Mark 5
• 35 "While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

• 36 "Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

• 41 "He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

Luke 8
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.

Yes Lord; I Believe That You are the Christ.

John 11:26-27
• 26: "Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?"
• 27: "Yes, Lord," she told him. "I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God."
• 40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

The question is Do you believe?

And if you believe, you will see the glory of God.

"My never Again List” By Don Gosset

• Never again will I confess “I can’t” for “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)

• Never again will I confess lack, for “My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

• Never again will I confess fear, for “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

• Never again will I confess doubt and lack of faith, for “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” (Romans 12:3)

• Never again will I confess weakness, for “The Lord is the strength of my life.” (Psalm 27:1) “The people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits.” (Daniel 11:32)

• Never again will I confess supremacy of Satan over my life, for “Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)

• Never again will I confess defeat, for “God always causeth me to triumph in Christ Jesus.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)

• Never again will I confess lack of wisdom, for “Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom from God.” (1 Corinthians 1:30)

• Never again will I confess sickness, for “With His stripes I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus “Himself took my infirmities and bare my sickness.” (Matthew 8:17)

• Never again will I confess worries and frustrations, for I am “Casting all my cares upon Him, who careth for me.” (1 Peter 5:7) In Christ I am “care-free.”

• Never again will I confess bo***ge, for “Where the Spirit of the
Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

• Never again will I confess condemnation, for “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) I am in Christ; therefore, I am free from condemnation.

• Never again will I confess loneliness, Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20) “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)

• Never again will I confess curses or bad luck, for “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” (Galatians 3:13-14)

• Never again will I confess discontent because “I have learned, in whatsoever state (circumstances) I am, therewith to be content.” (Philippians 4:11)

Never again will I confess unworthiness because “He hath made Him to be sin for us who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
