Most people think a pastor's greatest danger is sin.

It isn't.

⚠️ The greatest danger is becoming what God never called him to be.

Many pastors today have become celebrities behind the pulpit, CEOs of religious organizations, motivational speakers, entertainers, brand ambassadors, life coaches, and social media influencers.

Yet the Bible says:

📖 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God..." — Acts 20:28

Notice that Paul did not say the Holy Spirit appointed pastors to build empires.

He did not say they were called to build personal brands.

He did not say they were called to gather fans.

He said they were appointed to feed God's flock.

The sheep belong to Christ.

The church belongs to Christ.

The ministry belongs to Christ.

The glory belongs to Christ.

A pastor is merely a steward.

The word pastor literally means shepherd.

God's idea of a pastor was established long before the New Testament.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God declared:

📖 "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." — Jeremiah 3:15

A pastor is God's gift to His people.

Not to control them.

Not to manipulate them.

Not to exploit them.

But to feed them with truth.

Paul explains further:

📖 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers." — Ephesians 4:11

Why?

📖 "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." — Ephesians 4:12

The pastor is not called to do everything.

Rather, the pastor is called to equip believers for ministry.

A ministry that revolves around one man has already missed the point.

Ministry is a collective kingdom assignment.

According to Scripture, a pastor must:

✅ Feed the flock with sound doctrine
📖 1 Peter 5:2

✅ Protect the flock from false teaching
📖 Titus 1:9–11

✅ Equip believers for spiritual maturity
📖 Ephesians 4:11–14

✅ Be an example to the flock
📖 1 Peter 5:3

✅ Preach the Word faithfully
📖 2 Timothy 4:2

✅ Watch over souls as one who will give account
📖 Hebrews 13:17

This means ministry is not a popularity contest.

A pastor's success is not measured by crowds, applause, influence, or social media engagement.

It is measured by faithfulness.

The prophet Ezekiel rebuked shepherds who fed themselves instead of God's people.

📖 "Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?" — Ezekiel 34:2

God was not against shepherds.

He was against shepherds who made ministry about themselves.

Peter gave the same warning:

📖 "Feed the flock of God... not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God's heritage..." — 1 Peter 5:2–3

Pastors are shepherds.

Not owners.

Servants.

Not masters.

Examples.

Not dictators.

A pastor who needs everyone dependent upon him has misunderstood his assignment.

Make disciples.

Equip disciples.

Release disciples.

Let disciples make disciples.

A pastor who cannot celebrate people growing beyond him has misunderstood leadership.

John the Baptist understood true ministry.

📖 "He must increase, but I must decrease." — John 3:30

That should be the heartbeat of every pastor.

The goal is not to make people dependent on us.

The goal is to make people devoted to Christ.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧-𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘

The ultimate Shepherd is not your pastor.

It is Christ.

The pastor points people to Christ.

The pastor reveals Christ.

The pastor preaches Christ.

The pastor teaches Christ.

The pastor equips people to follow Christ.

Because one day every pastor will stand before the Chief Shepherd.

📖 "And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away." — 1 Peter 5:4

The greatest pastor is not the one with the largest church.

The greatest pastor is not the one with the largest platform.

The greatest pastor is not the one with the most followers.

The greatest pastor is the one who faithfully points people to Jesus Christ.

🕊 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧

Every pastor must continually examine his heart and ministry.

The question is not, "How many people are following me?"

The question is, "Am I faithfully leading people to Christ?"

May we never become what God did not call us to be.

May we remain faithful shepherds, humble servants, and faithful stewards of God's flock.

I am corrected too, and I hope you are helped too.

🙌 We Win Always!
