when Amavasya (New Moon day) falls on Saturday it is regarded as Shani Amavasya. Shani Amavasya is considered to be an auspicious (lucky or blessed) day for Hindu devotees, especially to perform 'shradh' or 'trapan' to dead ancestors. On this day, Hindu believers and devotees worship Shani Dev for bringing fortune and prosperity. During this day, people visit temples or shrine places of Lord Shani and offer Him mustard oil, flowers, blessed food and flowers. It is strongly believed that by doing this way, you can easily please Shani Dev and get his immense grace or blessings, your troubles get disappear, you can become free from evils, and you feel enormous peace and happiness by grace of this deity. People who have affect of Sade Sati Sani or Adhaiya Shani (influencing period of planet Saturn), or Shani dosh are strongly suggested to worship lord Shani with full of devotion and complete methods, it will reduce bad influence or evil results of planetary periods of Saturn from their lives. If you are unable to pray to lord Shani with systems thoroughly during this Shani Amavasya you can at least offer mustard oil to Shani Dev.
Usually, Saturday is dedicated to worship of lord Shani. You can observe, temples of shani dev are full of crowd of devotes on every Saturday.

Importance of Shani Amavasya

Shani Amavasya is particularly dedicated to rituals and activities done for 'pitron' (dead ancestors). You can do fast or other rituals for your dead ancestor that will provide peace to their soul. As mentioned in Holy Scriptures, worshipping or praying lord Shani during Shani Amavasya you can certainly be free from any kind of fear or phobia in life. As Amavasya or full moon day is usually considered as inauspicious but if amavasya falls on Saturday it gives special importance and makes this day very blessed and fortunate. For this auspicious occasion,"both Amavasya and Lord Shani reflect black color so worshipping black colored lord shani during this Shani Amavasya definitely will bring fortunate things, immense joy, affluent wealth for you, and diminish darkenes from your live, so must offer your devotion towards this deity". People with zodiac signs Capricorn and Aquarius (Makar Capricorn and Aquarius Kumbh Rashi) must worship to lord Shani, especially during this Shani Amavasya to get his mammoth blessings, as Shani grah is ruler planet of these two zodiac signs. Many devotes also perform Abhishek and Shani Shanti Yagya on Shani Amavasya, as doing that they can certainly meet fortunate events in life. Hindu people also regard lord Shani as Sanaischarya, Chaya Putra, and Shanishwara.

A little astrological detail about Lord Shani as planet Saturn

Lord Shani is of Shyamvarna or black colored complexion. Some astrologists believe that lord shani is Son of surya dev (Sun). Many convictions and myths are also associated with lord shani that induce controversies. Few mythologists believe that shani represents "God Brahma" and few say that he represents "Lord Shiva", and some say he represents Yama. Romans used to belive that planet Saturn is 'God of Agriculture'. Westerners say, call Saturn is son of planet Uranus, and father of planet Jupiter. Hindu people also call Saturn a 'Lame', because for some reasons "Ravana" had cut down the leg of Saturn. And so, Saturn is very slow for its planetary movements. Lord Shani represents Planet Saturn, which is sterile, slow, cold, binding, unchanging, dry, protective, rigid, timid, and a mysterious planet. Saturn governs zodiac signs Capricorn and Aquarius (Makar and Kumbh Rashi). Saturn passes through all zodiac signs more gradually than other planet. Thus, it can be said to be the "Chief Governor" for longevity. This planet is very powerful being both malefic and benefic. Being a Malefic planet, it can bring delays, difficulties or can crate disharmony and disputes in life.

Shani being a very powerful planet has intense effects on the native. If the effects of Saturn on a being are negative then those would be extremely negative and that person has to suffer a lot. Therefore, it is highly recommended to worship on the day of Shani Amavasya. Dr Sanjay Pandya astroforu Indian International Astrologer Shri Shakti Temple Mayfair Joburg south Africa.

Influence of Shani on Life
Astrological experts uphold the fact that a personโ€™s success or failure in life is greatly determined by the placement of Shani in their horoscope. Though this is true to a certain extent, the same cannot be taken for granted. Some people even believe in the myth that Shani brings bad luck upon people. In fact, Shani is believed to bring in best luck but only in a gradual manner that comes through patience and hard work. One needs to understand the importance of discipline to succeed in life. Large number of devotees are seen thronging at Shani Temples in order to ensure that good luck favors them. However, it is not desired that people leave everything to God in the quest of prosperity. In fact your fate also depends upon the right location and direction of Shani Graha. Shani Yagya has to be performed upon the advice of a seer or pundit to ward off the negative effect of Shani Devta.

Prayers for Shani Dev to Thwart Evil Spirits
Some people are known to observe fast on Shani Amavasya in order to ensure that they are able to lead an easy and hurdle free life. The processes and events that follow to fasting are similar to that of Shanivar Vrat or Saturday Fast. However, learning about the process associated with the observation of fast in an accurate manner is something that is needed the most.
People across India are known to perform Shani Vrat to ensure that their personal life is protected to the core besides their families and relatives. There are certain pundits who advice performing Shani J*p 23000 times in order to maintain a peaceful and prosperous life as per the expectations. To avoid witchcraft, people wear horse shoe in their fingers and also hang it in their houses. It is commonly believed that lord Shani creates hindrance in oneโ€™s growth. Hence, in order to delight lord Shani, these measures can be followed:

โ€ข Shani strotra.
Hanuman chalisa
โ€ข Intonation of eleven mala of โ€˜Om Sham Shaneshchraya Namahโ€™.
Om praam preem Prowm Saha Saneshwaryee Namaha
โ€ข Fill the ant holes with concoction of wheat and jaggery.
These are some of the steps to prevent Shani dosh and to please lord Shani. This festival has a lot of significance of its own in the Indian culture. People in Madhya Pradesh strongly believe that by worshipping Lord Shani, all the hurdles and problems in oneโ€™s path are eliminated. It is considered very essential to get free of Shani Dosh before starting a new venture. With Lord Shaniโ€™s blessings, itโ€™s just success all the way.

Adhik Maas 2026 (Extra Months ).
Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas is a tremendously favorable additional lunabr month that occurs nearly in every 32 months of the Hindu calendar. This period was dedicated to Lord Krishna - Vishnu- Naryana, and it has a vast spiritual significance to the devotees who want to gain blessings, forgiveness, prosperity, and spiritual elevation. Adhik Maas will be worshipped with great enthusiasm in Mathra and Vrindavan in 2026, the Shri Krishna. Temples have special darshans, kirtans, sevas, Bhagwat Katha, and Holy parikramas hence it is the most appropriate time to go on pilgrimage to Braj. Going to this holy land or Do Special Prayers of Vishnu Krishna or Pittru Daanam within this holy month is said to bring hundred times more punya and every step becomes a blessing. During this time, the Hindu calendar includes an additional month, making 2026 a 13-month year. This entire period is spiritually charged and ideal for vrat, charity, parikrama and temple visits.
The Hindu calendar is 365 days with an extra month during this period. 2026 is thus a 13 month year. What is Adhik Maas? The whole matter of history, of meaning, and spiritual story ought to be considered collectively rather than independently. The entire issue of history, meaning, spiritual narrative is to be taken as a collective and not as an independent issue.
Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas is a special and holy supplement to the Hindu lunar calendar. As opposed to the typical twelve months, Adhik Maas is only exhibited when lunar cycle and the solar cycle go out of sync. The moon revolves around the sun in a period that is shorter than the star and therefore, every few years, there comes a period of time difference. An additional lunar month is inserted in order to bring back the harmony between the two calendars this is Adhik Maas. It takes place about once in 32-33 months, thus, it is a rare and spiritually important time.
Why then is it called Purushottam Maas?
The history of this name runs deep in Hindu scriptures, particularly, Padma Purana. They say that at the time this additional month appeared, it did not feel worthy. It lacked festivals, it lacked celebries, no gods were ruling over it and people thought it was unlucky. The month lamented and came to Lord Vishnu in search of a goal.
Lord Vishnu compassionate as he is, adopted this forsaken month and proclaimed:
This month This month belongs to ME, The Purushottam, The Supreme Soul.
He blessed it, that any action of good will carried out during this month will give the greatest spiritual merit--greatly superior to any other month.
Since then, Adhik Maas is what is known as Purushottam Maas, the month the nearest to the heart of Lord Krishna, who is worshipped as Purushottam Avatara. The Deeper Spiritual Meaning
It is a month, unlike other months, filled with feasts, ceremonies, noise and anything that ties people to the society:

Time to slow down
Look inward
Cleanse the mind
Practice devotion with simplicity
Reconnect with Krishna bhakti
One believes that spiritual progress of the individual this month is handled by the Supreme Lord Himself. Any kind of generosity such as reciting Bhagavad Gita, giving charity, chanting the name of Krishna and going to the sacred places such as Mathura and Vrindavan is met with an enormous punya and elimination of ancient karmic sins.

In simple words
Adhik Maas is a divine bonus month - a soft rest given by the universe so that our spiritual life too takes a turn and realigns with the universe just as the calendar does with the universe.
To the devotees visiting temple Adhik Maas 2026, each and every action would be a prayer... and each prayer would make them even closer to Shri Krishna. Dr Sanjay Pandya Astro for u, Indian Awards Winner International Astrologer Joburg South Africa
