Theme: Formed and Filled by the Living Bread

This Sunday, Fr Russell reflected on the mystery at the heart of our Catholic faith: Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist.
Beginning with the recent attack on the Blessed Sacrament altar at Holy Trinity, he reminded us why Catholics hold the Eucharist so sacred. The Eucharist is not merely a symbol. It is Christ Himself, the Living Bread who nourishes, forms, and sends us.

🍞 1. We Become Part of Him
Drawing on St Thomas Aquinas, Fr Russell reminded us that there are two ways of eating.
Usually, we eat food and it becomes part of us.
But in the Eucharist something extraordinary happens: we receive Christ, and we become part of Him.
The Eucharist shapes our identity. We are formed by the One whom we receive.

✨ 2. United in Christ
St Thomas teaches that the Eucharist unites us with Christ.
When we gather around the one bread and the one cup, Christ does not become fragmented in us. Rather, we become united in Him.
People of different cultures, languages, races, backgrounds, and experiences gather around the same table and are drawn into one life: the life of Christ.

🕊️ 3. Filled with Grace
The Eucharist strengthens and preserves God's grace within us.
As we receive Christ, His life continues to work in us, helping us to choose what is good and to become more fully who God calls us to be.
The Eucharist is not simply nourishment for a moment; it is God's ongoing action in our lives.

🔥 4. Truth, Mercy, and Mission
Fr Russell reflected on three further gifts of the Eucharist.
First, we are drawn into truth because Christ is Truth.
Second, we receive mercy as we acknowledge where we have fallen short.
Third, we are sent on mission to bring Christ's truth and mercy into the world.
The Eucharist never leaves us unchanged.

🤲 5. Becoming His Mind, Heart, and Hands
At the heart of Holy Trinity's vision is the Eucharist.
When we hear the words "The Body of Christ" and respond "Amen," we are accepting more than a doctrine. We are accepting a mission.
Christ comes to dwell within us so that we may become His mind, His heart, and His hands in the world.

💭 Reflection:
When I come forward to receive the Eucharist, do I realise whom I am receiving?
And how is Christ calling me to make His self-sacrificing love visible in my daily life?

The Eucharist is not only something we receive.
It is something we become.

✨ The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ | Sermon Recap ✨

Fr Russell reflected on the mystery at the heart of our Catholic faith: Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist.

Drawing on St Thomas Aquinas, he reminded us that while ordinary food becomes part of us, in the Eucharist we receive Christ and become part of Him.

The Eucharist unites us with Christ and with one another. People of different cultures, languages, backgrounds, and experiences gather around one table and are formed into one body.

The Eucharist also strengthens God’s grace within us, helping us to live lives shaped by truth, mercy, and love.

And finally, the Eucharist sends us on mission.

When we hear the words “The Body of Christ” and respond “Amen,” we are accepting a mission to become Christ’s presence in the world.

As Fr Russell reminded us, we are called to become His mind, His heart, and His hands.

💭 Reflection:
How is Christ shaping my life through the Eucharist?

✨ The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity | Sermon Recap ✨
Theme: The Trinity Is Not a Puzzle to Solve, But a Love to Receive

This Sunday, Deacon Billy reflected on one of the greatest mysteries of our faith: the Most Holy Trinity. Rather than presenting the Trinity as an abstract doctrine to be understood, he invited us to encounter the Trinity through God's saving love revealed in Jesus Christ.

❤️ 1. God Loves the World
The Gospel begins with one of the most beloved verses in all of Scripture:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son."

Despite all the violence, division, suffering, and sin we see around us, God does not abandon the world. He loves it. God's love is not simply a feeling or emotion; it is active, self-giving love that reaches out to save.

✝️ 2. We Know God Through His Saving Action
Deacon Billy reminded us that we do not first solve the mystery of God and then receive salvation.

Instead, we come to know God because He saves us.

We know the Father because He sends the Son.
We know the Son through His death and resurrection.
We know the Holy Spirit because Christ sends the Spirit to dwell within us.

It is through God's actions that the mystery of the Trinity is revealed.

🌿 3. The Trinity Is a Relationship
So often people feel intimidated by the doctrine of the Trinity. Yet the Trinity is not primarily a theological puzzle.

It is a relationship of love into which we are invited.

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist in perfect communion, and God invites us to share in that communion.

🕊️ 4. Mercy Before Condemnation
Jesus tells us that God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to save it.

Many people carry an image of God as distant, harsh, or eager to punish. But the Gospel reveals something very different: God's first desire is mercy, healing, forgiveness, and restoration.

Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more.

🔥 5. A Trinitarian Mission
The Trinity is not merely something we profess in the Creed. It is something we live.

Every time we make the Sign of the Cross, every time we pray, every time we are sent forth at the end of Mass, we are drawn into the life and mission of the Trinity.

As Deacon Billy reminded us, the Church is not simply a building or a Sunday habit. It is a community formed by the Father's love, filled with the Son's mercy, and animated by the Spirit's fire.

💭 Reflection:
Do I see God primarily as a judge, or as the God who loves, saves, and invites me into communion?
How can my life reflect the love of the Father, the mercy of the Son, and the fire of the Holy Spirit?

The Trinity is not a puzzle to solve.
It is a love to receive and a life to share.
