"A wanderer on a lonely road came across a torrential river that had washed out the bridge. He stops for a few days to build a raft out of branches, which carries him safely across to the other bank. When he gets to the other side, he looks at the solid and heavy raft and thinks, "This is a good raft. If I ever come across another river, it will come in handy.” So he put the raft on his back and carried it for the rest of his life.
Think about the meaning of this story. How often do we hang onto things that served us well at one point in our lives but are no longer relevant or useful?"

"A father before dying said to his son: this is a watch your great grandfather gave to me and it is more than 200 years old, but before I give it to you, go to the watch shop on the first street, and tell him I want to sell it, and see how much it is...

He went and then came back to his father, and said,
the watchmaker will pay 5 dollars because it's old!

he said to him go to the coffee shop... he went and then came back, and said: He will pay $5
The Father said
"go to the museum and show the watch for sale, he went then came back, and said to his father: they brought an expert and checked it's value and offered a million dollars for it.
Then the father said: I wanted to let you know that the right place values your worthy in a way Right, don't put yourself in the wrong place and get angry if you don't get what you are worthy .

P.S. Who knows your value is one who
appreciates you, don't stay in a place that doesn't suit you."

"To every sincere prayer an answer will come. It may not come just as you desire, or at the time you look for it; but it will come in the way and at the time that will best meet your need. The prayers you offer in loneliness, in weariness, in trial, God answers, not always according to your expectations, but always for your good."

A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a very young and beautiful woman also attempting to cross. The young woman asked if they could help her cross to the other side.

The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows not to touch a woman.

Then, without a word, the older monk picked up the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his
journey.

The younger monk couldn’t believe what had just happened. After rejoining his companion, he was speechless, and an hour passed without a word between them.

Two more hours passed, then three, finally the younger monk could contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”

The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?”

This story has a beautiful message about living in the present moment. How often do we carry around past hurts, holding onto resentments when the only person we are really hurting is ourselves.

*We all go through times in life when other people say things or behave in a way that is hurtful towards us. We can chose to ruminate over past actions or events, but it will ultimately weigh us down and sap our energy.

Instead we can choose to let go of what doesn’t serve us anymore and concentrate on the present moment. Until we can find a level of peace and happiness in the present circumstances of our lives, we will never be content, because ‘now’ is all we will ever have.

"Man is one of your creatures, Lord, and his instinct is to praise you….The thought of you stirs him so deeply that he cannot be content unless he praises you, because you made us for yourself and our hearts find no peace until they rest in you."

“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state--it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle.... Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one's actions."

"If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed... If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. And by the end of the day, that one task completed, will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can't do the little things right, you'll never be able to do the big things right. And if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made, that you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better."

"Prayer has stopped the Devil in his tracks. Prayer has sobered drunkards. Prayer has made adulterers walk straight. Prayer has confounded atheists. Prayer has raised the dead. Prayer is the power-line of the Christian. You want victory? Pray in faith, nothing wavering. He says, “Ask and you shall receive.” And the Lord doesn’t just start out helping you and then leave you to fend for yourself. Not my Jesus. The Bible says in Phillipians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing”--being what, beloved? Confident. That means sure! “that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” He’ll take you all the way, if only you’re willing." C.D Brooks

"Prayer is essential. If you’re not sure about the power of prayer, it’s because you don’t pray. Prayer has divided the sea. Prayer brought water out of solid rock. Prayer cooled off Nebuchadnezzar’s fiery furnace. Prayer locked the lion’s mouths so they couldn’t destroy Daniel." Pr C.D Brooks

"It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. If we would be saved at last, we must learn the lesson of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross."
