Rest in peace Neil Sedaka BDE
Neil Sedaka has passed away at 86.
Born in Brooklyn to a Lebanese-Jewish father and an Ashkenazi Jewish mother, Sedaka grew up in Brighton Beach — classically trained at Juilliard before becoming one of the defining voices of American pop.
He wrote or co-wrote more than 500 songs.
“Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.”
“Calendar Girl.”
“Laughter in the Rain.”
“Bad Blood.”
And hits for others — from Connie Francis to Captain & Tennille.
He was part of the Brill Building generation that helped shape modern pop music — Jewish songwriters who turned melody into memory and heartbreak into harmony.
Long before streaming.
Long before algorithms.
Just piano, pen, and instinct.
From a taxi driver’s son in Brooklyn to a global stage, his music outlived trends, invasions, and decades.
May his memory be a blessing.
