Before Samson, There Was Manoah
Many people know Samson—the strong man, the judge of Israel, the man who tore a lion apart and brought down the temple of the Philistines. But before Samson ever stood in public power, there was a man named Manoah.
Before the miracle, there was a praying father. Before the calling, there was a listening parent. Before the victory, there was a home being prepared for God’s purpose.
When the Angel of the Lord appeared, Manoah did not ask for fame, wealth, or recognition. Instead, he prayed, “O my Lord, let the man of God… come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born” (Judges 13:8).
What a powerful prayer!
Manoah understood that raising a child is not just about providing food, clothing, and education—it is about preparing a soul for God’s calling. He knew that destiny begins at home.
Samson’s story did not start in the battlefield—it started in the prayer room of his father.
Many want children with purpose, but few are willing to become parents with prayer. Many want to see greatness in the next generation, but greatness is often born through godly instruction, sacrifice, and obedience.
Before God raises a Samson, He often looks for a Manoah.
Parents, your influence matters. Your prayers matter. Your example matters.
The child may stand on the stage, but the foundation was built in the house.
Before the preacher, there was a praying mother. Before the leader, there was a faithful father. Before Samson, there was Manoah.
May we not only admire the greatness of Samson, but also learn from the faithfulness of Manoah.
