Thus Rome decreed that the light of God’s word should be extinguished and the people should be shut up in darkness.
But Heaven had provided other agencies for the preservation of the church. Many of the Waldenses and Albigenses, driven by persecution from their homes in France and Italy, came to Bohemia.
Though they dared not teach openly, they labored zealously in secret. Thus the true faith was preserved from century to century.
Before the days of Huss there were men in Bohemia who rose up to condemn openly the corruption in the church and the profligacy of the people. Their labors excited widespread interest. The fears of the hierarchy were roused, and persecution was opened against the disciples of the gospel.

The catacombs afforded shelter for thousands. Beneath the hills outside the city of Rome, long galleries had been tunneled through earth and rock; the dark and intricate network of passages extended for miles beyond the city walls.
In these underground retreats the followers of Christ buried their dead; and here also, when suspected and proscribed, they found a home.
When the Life-giver shall awaken those who have fought the good fight, many a martyr for Christ’s sake will come forth from those gloomy caverns.
Under the fiercest persecution these witnesses for Jesus kept their faith unsullied. Though deprived of every comfort, shut away from the light of the sun, making their home in the dark but friendly bosom of the earth, they uttered no complaint.

James Buchanan didn't have to wait long to find out what the Jesuits would do to him for double-crossing them.
On Washington's birthday, Buchanan's stand became known and the next day he was poised. The plot was deep and planned with skill. Mr. Buchanan, as was customary with men in his station, had a table and a chairs reserved for him-self and friends in the dining room at the national Hotel. The President was known to be an inveterate tea drinker; in fact, Northern people rarely drink anything else in the evening. Southern men prefer coffee. Thus, to make sure of Buchanan and his Northern friends, arsenic was sprinkled in the bowls containing the tea and lump sugar and set on the table where he was kept free from poison. Not a single Southern was affected or harmed. Fifty or sixty persons dined at the table that evening, and as nearly as can be learned, about thirty-eight died from the effects of the poison. President Buchanan was poised, and with the great difficulty his life was saved. His physicians given by himself as to the cause of the illness, for he understood well what was the matter.
James Buchanan was poisoned and almost died. He lived because he knew he that he had been given arsenic poisoning and so informed his doctors. He knew that the Jesuits poisoned Harrison and Taylor. The Jesuits Order fulfilled their oath again that they would poison, kill, or do whatever was necessary to remove those who oppose their plans. From 1841 to 1857, we saw that three PRESIDENTS were were attacked by the Jesuits as outlined in the in the Congress of Vienna, Verona, and Chieri. Two died and one barely escaped. If unity could be secured only by the compromise of truth and righteousness, then let there be difference, and even war.
Well would it be for the church and the world if the principles that actuated those steadfast souls were revived in the hearts of God’s professed people.
There is an alarming indifference in regard to the doctrines which are the pillars of the Christian faith.
The opinion is gaining ground, that, after all, these are not of vital importance. This degeneracy is strengthening the hands of the agents of Satan, so that false theories and fatal delusions which the faithful in ages past imperiled their lives to resist and expose, are now regarded with favor by thousands who claim to be followers of Christ.
The early Christians were indeed a peculiar people. Their blameless deportment and unswerving faith were a continual reproof that disturbed the sinner’s peace.
Though few in numbers, without wealth, position, or honorary titles, they were a terror to evildoers wherever their character and doctrines were known. Therefore they were hated by the wicked, even as Abel was hated by the ungodly Cain.

MAKING A NEW START

👪 Accepting Jesus as our Personal Savior gives us a chance to start a fresh.

👪 Baptism into His death is a symbol of a new life of forgiveness.

👪 Saul became Paul after his dramatic conversation (Acts 22: 4 - 15).

ORIGIN OF BAPTISM

👪 Baptism was introduced to signal a new life.

👪 Baptism was originated with John the Baptist

👪 Jesus was also baptized through immersion by John the Baptist.

👪 Jeaus' Disciples continued to baptize by immersion (John 4: 1,2; Matthew 28: 19, 20).

MODE OF BAPTISM

👪 There is one baptism (Ephesus 4: 5).

👪The Ethiopia was baptized through immersion (Acts 8: 30- 39).

👪 The New Testament new no other mode of baptism except baptism by immersion.

IMPORTANCE OF BAPTISM

👪 John 3: 5 - unless one is baptized, he cannot be saved (Mark 16: 16; Acts 8: 37)

👪 The following are the three steps to be followed before one is baptized:

1. He must accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

2. Understanding of the teachings of Jesus Christ

3. Should conference all sins and repent

👪 When we are baptized we become members if the church.

👪 Acts 22: 16 ... why wait stand up and be baptized

👪 Is like marriage it is a biblic commitment to God that we love Him

👪 It is the beginning of new life in Christ (John 3: 5; Matthew 3: 17).

👪 It also shows that one has put on Christ and is baptized into His death (Galatians 3::27; Romans 6: 3, 4).

HOW CAN THERE BE ONE BAPTISM WHEN PEOPLE HAVE MADE SO MANY KINDS OF BAPTISMS?

👪 The question is how was Jesus baptized?

Revelation 2 and 3 provide us with a brief history of the Christian church, down through the ages. In Ephesus, Greek, word Ephesus is the first of the seven churches described by Jesus in Revelation 2and 3. It covers a period of the Apostles. This church eagerly shared the truth about Jesus to every one they met. They carefully instructed the true believers and reproved sin. This important city, located at the eastern end of a major highway that crossed Asia Minor from Syria, was a major seaport on the Aegean Sea. Ephesus was one of the leading cities of Christianity.
2: 4-5 Let thy first love, Unfortunately, problems had already developed in the first church of the seven time period of Christian church history. Jesus said that /thou hast left thy first love for God is shown by obeying His commitments. Here is the first love that they had left: As the Fathet hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye love my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. John 15: 9+10. If you love Me keep My commandments. John 14: 15. The Lord thy God He is God, the faithful God, which keepers covenant and mercy with them that keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5: 2-3.
