Our passion for the girl child this year is demonstrated in addressing the socio-challenges faced by girls living in the informal settlements of Johannesburg. BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE 2022 – Restoring the Dignity of Girls from the Slums

Life is not easy for the girls who stay in the slums – they are surrounded by poverty, lack of food, clean water and basic essentials. Going to school is a challenge for many of them without the proper school uniforms, stationery, and school registration fees. Because of lack of resources, girls from the slums end up taking a shortcut in life - teenage pregnancies, drugs, early marriages which lead to a life being a single mother. However, together we can change their lives by motivating them to stay in school, dream big and fulfill their dreams.

Restore the Dignity of the Girl Child living in the Slums by joining us to help a child from the slums achieve their dreams. SAWIMA assists around 300 girls from the informal settlements around Ennerdale, Lenasia and Finetown with essential school supplies, backpacks, and school books and registration fees. Our student girls attend local primary, secondary and high schools, and preschools and need support. Join us in our BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE 2022 by donating new backpacks and essential school supplies or any donation that will enable us to buy the basic essentials and pay their books/school registration fees?

The COVID-19 epidemic is not just causing havoc on our health systems - but is biting hard on the pockets of those who were in informal employment. We have heart-breaking stories of people sleeping on empty stomachs including the elderly, children, pregnant women and the disabled. We have over 1 000 desperate families looking for food assistance.
