Scripture Reading: John 10:10
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
Blessed greetings to you all in the wonderful name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Today we gather in the presence of God to worship, to fellowship, and to receive the life-giving Word of God. The Lord has not called us merely to attend church services, but to receive His life, to be transformed by His Word, and to grow into spiritual maturity.
As I was meditating this morning, the Lord impressed upon my heart this truth: Heaven is not the place for the dead; heaven is the place for the living.
Many people think of heaven as a destination for those who have died physically. However, Scripture teaches us that God is the God of the living. Death is not merely the ending of physical life; death is separation from God. A person can be physically alive yet spiritually dead because they are separated from God.
When Adam sinned, he did not immediately die physically, but he became separated from God. Therefore, death entered humanity through separation from the Source of life.
Jesus declared in John 10:10:
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
The mission of Christ is to give us life. When we receive Christ, we receive life itself because Christ is our life. Where Christ is present, life is present. Where life is present, death loses its power.
That is why believers do not face death as the world understands it. The Apostle Paul often spoke of believers who had "fallen asleep." This is because those who belong to Christ have the hope of resurrection. When a child of God leaves this earthly life, they do not perish; they transition into a greater dimension of life.
For this reason, we must make it our priority to maintain a proper relationship with God. We must guard our thoughts, our words, and our actions. The enemy seeks to rob us of life by leading us into sin, bitterness, unbelief, and disobedience.
God commands us:
"Be holy, for I am holy."
Holiness is not merely a suggestion; it is God's command. Holiness keeps us in fellowship with the God of life. Without holiness, darkness and spiritual death begin to dominate.
Many people are active in church activities, yet they lack the life of God within them. It is possible to sing, preach, prophesy, and perform religious activities while being spiritually dead. What matters most is whether the life of Christ dwells within us.
The greatest tragedy is not physical death. The greatest tragedy is to live without God and to leave this world without the life of Christ.
Therefore, let us pursue the life that comes from God. Let us choose obedience over compromise. Let us choose holiness over sin. Let us choose God's approval over the approval of people.
Many fail to produce the fruit of the Gospel because they fear disappointing people more than they fear disappointing God. But as believers, we must reach a place where pleasing God becomes our highest priority.
Rather disappoint people than disappoint God.
Rather lose popularity than lose the presence of God.
Rather suffer rejection from the world than be separated from the life that Christ gives.
The Lord has called us to life, abundant life, eternal life. Let us hold firmly to Christ, for He is our life.
Conclusion
Today, make a decision to walk closely with God. Examine your heart. Remove anything that hinders your relationship with Him. Seek His presence daily. Walk in holiness. Walk in faith. Walk in obedience.
For heaven belongs to the living, and those who have Christ have life both now and forever.
May the Lord bless you, strengthen you, and keep you in His life until the day of His appearing.
In Jesus' mighty name.
Amen.
