LOYALTY
1 Samuel 31:2 “The Philistines fought fiercely against Saul and his sons, and they killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua, Saul's sons.”
Jonathan knew that God had chosen David to be the next king of Israel. In fact, he openly acknowledged this when he told David, “You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you” (1 Samuel 23:17). Unlike his father Saul, Jonathan did not resist God's plan. He loved David, protected him, and supported him during difficult times. Yet Jonathan remained in Saul's household and ultimately shared in the tragic consequences of Saul's downfall. While Scripture does not say that Jonathan died because of a personal failure, his story reminds us that the relationships and alliances we maintain can significantly influence the course of our lives.
Many people remain blindly loyal to leaders even when they clearly see patterns of pride, moral compromise, greed, or spiritual decline. Loyalty is a noble virtue, but it must never take precedence over loyalty to God and His truth. When a leader departs from God's ways, believers should continue to show respect, gratitude, and prayerful concern, but they must not follow that leader into disobedience.
Statement of Truth: When loyalty to spiritual leader or church conflicts with loyalty to God, we must choose God.

I pray that God will grant you the wisdom to honour and respect the people He has placed in your life, while remaining devoted to Him. May God help you to remain faithful to His truth, even when it is difficult to choose. May your loyalty to Christ always surpass your loyalty to any person or institution. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

GO TO HIM
1Sa 21:1 “And David came to Nob, to Ahimelech the priest…”
When Saul wanted to kill David, David ran to Nob, where the house of the Lord was. There was refuge there. When enemies pursue you—whether to destroy your life, hinder God’s purpose for you, or block your future both physically and spiritually—run to the presence of God, your true place of safety, in the secret place of prayer and communion with Him though the Holy Spirit may also direct you to leave ahostile location and move to a more peaceful one.
Some people stop praying and going to church when going through hard times or after sinning. This is a mistake. Never turn away from God, who solves problems, moves mountains and performs miracles. And never run from God, who forgives sins and restores broken lives.
Statement of Truth: Run to Jesus, not from Him; he is not your enemy but your refuge.
I pray that you will always find refuge in the Lord, and that He will deliver you from every trouble. May He strengthen your faith and surround you with His peace, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

USED OR APPROBED?
1 Samuel 19:23–24 – “So Saul went to Naioth in Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even upon him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth. He stripped off his garments, and he too prophesied in Samuel’s presence. He lay naked all that day and all that night. This is why people say, ‘Is Saul also among the prophets?’”
How can a king who had been rejected by God be filled with the Spirit and prophesy while on his way to kill David? This passage reminds us that God is sovereign and can use anyone or anything to accomplish His purposes. In this case, God intervened supernaturally to frustrate Saul’s evil plan and protect David from harm.
The Spirit's presence did not necessarily indicate divine approval. It demonstrated God's power over a rebellious king. Saul's actions, including removing his royal garments and lying exposed, were a public humiliation. The king, who sought to exalt himself against God's will, was brought low.
Lesson: the Holy Spirit may work through a person to accomplish God's purpose, but that does not mean the person is obedient. For the obedient believer, the Holy Spirit empowers, guides, and blesses. For the disobedient, God's intervention may expose sin, restrain evil, or bring correction and judgment.
Spiritual manifestations are never an end in themselves. Their purpose is to glorify God, strengthen His people, and advance His kingdom. Any manifestation that draws attention away from Christ or creates division among believers misses God's intended purpose.
Statement of Truth: Being used by God is not the same as being approved by God.
Heavenly Father, help us not only to be used by You but also to walk in obedience and remain approved in Your sight. May the Holy Spirit work powerfully through our lives to bring glory to Your name and blessing to Your church. Keep us humble, faithful, and surrendered to Your will. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
