Braving the cold rainy weather on Sunday 06 September 2026, the members of the
๐—ง๐—ข๐—ช๐—˜๐—ฅ๐—•๐—ฌ congregation assembled at a local school hall for their first Sunday divine service after the recent loss of their beautiful church building.

The newly appointed rector, Priest Daryl Jacobs conducted the divine service.

With great excitement and anticipation for the upcoming ๐—™๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ divine service on Sunday 06 September 2026, the members of Towerby congregation gathered early on Saturday morning to prepare their new interim place of worship, at a local school hall.

Young and old joined the ministers to ensure that all is well prepared to welcome the members and also the invited friends!

On Monday 31 August 2026, the rectors of the Johannesburg South district gathered in Alberton for their monthly meeting with the district rectors, as well as the closing of the congregation finance accounts.

The district rector Timothy van Rooyen welcomed everyone, especially the two newly appointed rectors of the South Hills and Towerby congregations, and shared feedback from the recent district rectors meeting with the Apostle Mandla Mkhwanazi.

The district Sunday School coordinator, Deacon Anastasia Jacobs, addressed the rectors on matters related to the recent Sunday School registration process, as well as the upcoming Confirmation Workshop.

The outgoing district Finance coordinator, Priest Carla Fischer, presented the updated district financial records related to dare2care weekend, the dragonboat and individual congregation balances in the Apostle Area bank account.

After the divine service, the Apostle read a letter from the District Apostle Peter Lambert, that served as a wonderful comfort and also encouragement to the members of the Towerby congregation, whose church building was completely destroyed by a devastating fire earlier this week.

After the choir concluded the divine service with a hymn of praise and thanks, the members made use of the opportunity to greet the Apostle at the altar.

The Apostle also took group pictures with the ministers - active, retired and newly ordained.

Together with their interim rector, who is also the district rector, Community Evangelist Timothy van Rooyen, the ministers of Towerby congregation gathered on Friday, 28 August 2026 for an evening of fellowship.

The Apostle Mandla Mkhwanazi addressed the group via a brief Teams call and shared much-needed words of comfort and strength, in the light of the recent tragic event that caused the complete destruction of their church building.

The Apostle also conveyed the greetings and well wishes of the District Apostle, and shared thoughts from the Bible text in Isaiah 66: 13

After a delicious meal, the group enjoyed a blessed discussion in preparation for the upcoming divine service on Sunday, when the Apostle will also appoint their newly designated rector, Priest Daryl Jacobs.
