The Parish of St George's within the Chapelries of St Simons Simondium; St John's Kylemore; St Giles Lanquedoc; St George's Groot Drakenstein and the Pastoral District Wemmershoek and LaMotte said goodbye to our Rector of 5 years on the 27th of April 2025.
Our Rector, Father Wilfred, was a shining example of dedication and perseverance. He was resolute in his quest to paint the ring wall of St George's church , inspiring us as parishioners to work tirelessly to secure donations to restore our church's thatch roof. We were also blessed with a beautifully organized garden, courtesy of a generous couple. Father Wilfred's exceptional leadership, marked by his impeccable organization, punctuality, and decisiveness, was a beacon of hope. He would always graciously lend an ear to both sides before rendering his wise decision. I fondly recall our December Picnic evening, which was a true masterpiece, showcasing Father Wilfred's flair for bringing people together. Every Easter, he would meticulously decorate the Easter candle, creating a breathtaking work of art that inspired us all. He also orchestrated numerous uplifting services, including the Service of the Blessing of the Animals, Cancer Awareness services, Holy Week services, Lenten week, Christmas services, and our Confirmation services, which grew more meaningful with each passing year. Additionally, he conducted Back to School services, nurturing the minds and spirits of our young ones.
