Today the Lord has placed something deeply on my heart. Last week while ministering to our children, He began to speak to me about rebellion. How often do we, whether as believers or unbelievers, fall into this very trap? Scripture tells us that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23), and disobedience closes the door to God’s blessings in our lives.
Yes, there is grace — abundant, unmerited, overflowing grace through Christ — but grace is not a license to sin. Grace empowers us to overcome rebellion and to walk in obedience. When we choose disobedience, we grieve the Holy Spirit, but when we surrender in obedience, we experience the fullness of His presence and power.
Here is a teaching i put together. I do hope this will encourage you, help you and direct your path on this journey with Christ.

🚫 Rebellion & Disobedience: Why the Bible Calls It Witchcraft
Introduction
We often think rebellion just means “breaking rules” or “doing my own thing.” But Scripture reveals something much deeper: rebellion and disobedience are not just bad habits — they are spiritual issues that God sees as serious as witchcraft.
📖 1 Samuel 15:23 –
“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.”
This is about more than behavior. It’s about who is on the throne of your life — God, or you?
---
1. Rebellion Rejects God’s Authority
Witchcraft = trying to gain control apart from God.
Rebellion = living life apart from God’s authority.
Both say: “I want to be in charge.”
📖 Romans 8:7 –
“The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.”
👉 When we rebel, we’re not just “acting out” — we’re pushing against God Himself.
___
2. Disobedience Opens the Door to Darkness
Paul describes disobedience as aligning with the enemy:
📖 Ephesians 2:2 –
> “…you once walked according to the ways of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in those who are disobedient.”
Disobedience is not neutral. Every “no” to God is a “yes” to the enemy.
It’s like leaving your front door open at night — you’re inviting an intruder.
📖 John 8:44 – Jesus said those who reject God’s Word are doing “the desires of your father the devil.”
👉 When you choose disobedience, you are not choosing freedom. You are choosing bo***ge.
---
3. Stubbornness is Idolatry
Samuel says stubbornness = idolatry (1 Samuel 15:23).
Idolatry = worshiping something other than God.
Stubbornness = worshiping yourself and your own opinion.
Jesus showed the opposite in Gethsemane:
📖 Luke 22:42 –
> “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
👉 Every time you say, “My way over God’s way,” you’ve built an idol — yourself.
---
4. Saul: A Case Study in Partial Obedience
God told Saul to destroy everything of the Amalekites.
He kept the king alive and spared the best animals.
Outwardly, Saul looked religious (he said he wanted to sacrifice to God). But inwardly, he was disobedient.
📖 1 Samuel 15:22 –
> “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
📖 James 4:17 –
> “If anyone knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin.”
👉 Half obedience is still disobedience. And disobedience always costs more than you think.
---
5. The Gospel: Jesus, the Model of Obedience
Where Saul failed, Jesus succeeded.
📖 Philippians 2:8 –
> “He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.”
Jesus’ obedience brought us salvation.
Our obedience to Him now shows that we truly love Him.
📖 John 14:23 –
> “Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.”
👉 Obedience is not about legalism. It’s about love.
---
Closing Challange
Rebellion = Witchcraft → both reject God’s authority.
Disobedience = Darkness → it gives the enemy access.
Stubbornness = Idolatry → it places self above God.
The Gospel = Freedom → obedience through Christ leads to life.
📖 Deuteronomy 30:19 –
> “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
👉 Today I'd like to say that it's your choice: Rebellion brings destruction. Obedience brings life.
If you are relate to anything thats been mentioned above amd are struggling in an area of your life or multiple areas please say this pray ler with conviction and trust in the Lord for open doors ,breakthrough and deliverance in Jesus Mighty Name.
Prayer
“Lord, I confess every rebellion in my heart. Break my pride, and remove every spirit of disobedience from me. Jesus, You obeyed even unto death — give me that same heart. I choose obedience, I choose life, and I choose You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
