THE WILL AND THE POWER

Most, if not all of us, have devastation, trauma, or tragedy in our past, and as much as we might wish to, we can’t erase it from our life story. But we can find healing for it. The pivotal question is, how? For example, could we stir up enough willpower within ourselves to make ourselves get past what happened?

In Romans 7, we’re presented with Paul’s fight between knowing what is right and being unable to follow through with action. In verse 15, Paul says, “I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” In other words, Paul had the will but not the power to do what he wanted to do.

Likewise, what we need isn’t more desire, effort, or information—more behavior modification. What we need is the power of the Holy Spirit to change our heart—something only He can do.

Heart transformation is the difference maker because it is systemic; it affects all we do and all we are. Remember what Solomon wrote? “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23).

Paul put it this way in Ephesians 4:23-24: “Be made new in the attitude of your minds [and] put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

To thrive in life, the transformed heart doesn’t depend on the external circumstances changing. Nor does it ignore the sometimes-devastating reality of life. Instead, it acknowledges a greater reality amid our pain and disorientation.

As has always been the case, unlimited power is available for God’s purposes to be accomplished in your life. In Philippians 2:13, Paul wrote, “It is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” And there it is. God gives us the will and the power for life.

How have you been striving to overcome suffering or loss through self-effort? What has been the result?

Prepping For His Coming

Jesus made it clear that He is returning one day. And every generation has had reason to believe that it might be in their lifetime.

Today, the signs and fulfilled prophecies about the days of His return are ever-increasing, so there is understandably much talk and interest in the timeline of Jesus’ return. Though no one knows when that will be, we certainly know that every day that passes is another day closer to His return!

Without doubt, Jesus is coming back – and I believe it may be soon! But for what/whom is He coming back? Is Jesus returning for anyone and everyone that has walked through church doors? Or who says they are a Christian? Or for prominent church “leaders,” or those who faithfully follow them?

A Wrong Focus

Unfortunately, many look to well-known “leaders” for guidance and spirituality, especially the popular speakers and influencers. Recent publicized moral failures of many celebrity church leaders has revealed that they are mere people, with the same weaknesses, temptations and limitations as the rest of us. Many are compromising God’s Word and watering down the biblical requirements of a true disciple of Jesus Christ, leading multitudes astray.

The problems revealed are two-fold. First, the “celebrity-value” can often attract individuals to the pulpits who are drawn to fame, power and position, rather than servanthood. Add to this their pursuit of wealth (prosperity doctrines), big crowds, book deals – turning the sanctuaries of God into money-changing market places that extort funds from the gullible with false promises of “blessings” and are used to fulfill a leader’s self-serving ambitions.

Second, people often encourage this celebrity approach by choosing to watch, follow and support the online or TV “stars,” instead of being part of a nearby group of believers where they can grow spiritually and become disciples who are taught to use their God-given gifts and abilities to minister to the saints and bless others (even those outside the church), according to the scriptural pattern.

Responding to Failures

The recent downfall of many notable leaders in the Body of Christ has brought sorrow and discouragement to many. Sadly, it has also brought gloating from some who know the Lord, and from those who do not. And they use that as an excuse to continue in their rebellion against God and the Gospel (Ro 2:21-24; 1Pe 2:11-16, 3:15,16).

As believers, to rejoice in the failures or weaknesses of others (especially those we do not like) is not only un-Christlike, it is warned against in the Bible (Pr. 24:17,18). Jesus taught that to condemn others when we ourselves are sinners exposes us as hypocrites (Mt 7:1-5).

I do not believe that our King takes pleasure in the uncovering of sin and human weakness in church leadership (Ez. 18:23; 33:11), and our understanding of our Father’s ways needs to adjust our minds to “Kingdom thinking.”

Are We Being Prepared?

But could it be that these recent exposures are actually the hand of God preparing His Church for His return?

We are told that Jesus is returning for a “glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish” (Ep 5:25b-27). We are warned, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the Gospel of God?” (1Pe 4:17).

When God exposes sin, He does so as an act of mercy! By bringing failures into the light, it is always for the purpose of leading people to repentance and transformation. Through our heartfelt repentance, He begins the process of redemption, healing, deliverance and a restoration to right relationship with Himself and others (2Co 7:9,10).

God’s judgment upon sin exposes what is blocking and hindering both individuals and thus, His Body, from reaching its full potential. His divine design is that the Church would glorify Christ, and be the instrument through which His Kingdom is made manifest on earth, thus becoming a powerful testimony and blessing to the world.

As the Lord’s judgments begin in the House of God, so do His blessings – and His genuine blessings always follow a repentant heart.

What We Can Do

Jesus came, “preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel’” (Mk 1:14,15). So let our hearts, minds and actions be shaped by what Jesus preached as the essential steps we must take if we are to be Kingdom disciples who are ready for His appearing.

1. Repent – For the believer, repentance from sin is not a one-time thing. It is necessary every time we fail. Repentance is more than sorrow over sin. It literally means to turn away from sinful behavior, and turn toward God. And every time we do, God will forgive and cleanse us (1Jn 1:9).

2. Believe – Though we can intellectually acknowledge the truth, we must be so convinced of Who Jesus is that we daily take action upon what we believe about the Gospel. Read the Word of God daily and feed on its unchanging truths, in order to not be deceived by the rampant evil and confusion of our day.

3. Walk – Take steps to live out what you believe and know to be true; the more you rise and live to the standards of Scripture, the further your life will be from sin and compromise (Gal 5:1).

4. Be filled with the Spirit! – Not one of us can live a godly life without help, and we have the Holy Spirit to do just that. God gives liberally fresh fillings of His Spirit to any who ask (Lk 11:9-13; Ep 5:18), and that includes His power, discernment and wisdom.

5. Be Humble – Live humbly before God and others. We are all in dire need of His grace and mercy, so live, talk, pray and act with humility (Ps 130:3,4; Micah 6:8).

6. Worship – As we worship the King of the universe, everything will be put in right perspective. He seeks those who will worship Him in “spirit and truth” (Jn 4:23,24) and His presence will inhabit the place where He is welcomed in worship (Ps 22:3).

7. Pray – The nations desperately need the Lord. Pray for His Spirit to be poured out on all people, and that the Lord of the Harvest would send forth laborers (Mt 9:37,38) to gather a great harvest in these days. Also pray:

a. For the Church to be cleansed of all compromise, wickedness and demonic doctrines, and to be prepared for the coming of the Lord.

b. That leaders in the Body of Christ will strive for holiness for the sake of the Gospel, and come to understand that fruitfulness in ministry is people being transformed into the image of Jesus and fully reflecting the presence and character of Christ in their lives (2Ti 4:1-5).

The principles above are not new ideas. Jesus expects us to obey and do that which He has already revealed in His Word (see the parables in Matthew chapter 25, and Luke 12:35-48).

He asks the question, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Lk 18:8). This faith is not about nominal church membership, but is an active, vital and living personal relationship with Jesus that is full of trust, obedience and faithfulness to Him. Faith in Him for everything is what He desires from us, and when He returns these are the ones He will be seeking.

PRAYER THIS MONTH

1. GLOBAL PRAYER

You are well aware of the current global unrest, conflict and confusion that is occurring around the world in these days. Would you please focus your prayers on the following three particular points of intercession this month.

Please pray about:

The horrific sexualization and growing perversion of Western culture. What occurred at the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, only accentuates the onslaught of demonic twisting and preying upon people in attempts to defile and destroy God’s most basic created order for humanity (Gen 1:27). The only answer to this is the salvation and power of Jesus Christ! Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring revelation, repentance leading to salvation, and total transformation.

Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran. Please pray for a cessation of hostilities, return of hostages, and change of governments where needed. Pray for the salvation of terrorists – turning from Saul’s to Paul’s – and for the Jewish people to recognize their Messiah!

U.S.A. Elections. The world watches and is influenced by what happens in America. Much is at stake in the elections in November, and also in the months leading up to them. Please pray for peace; for the demonic spirits of lawlessness and violence to be bound; for the entire truth on many issues to become visible to all, with nothing hidden in shadow; against nefarious and evil global agendas and those who want to impose them; and for righteousness to rule in the actual voting of the elections.

2. WORLD MAP

Nepal Seminars – In September, World MAP will be conducting pastoral training seminars in Nepal. In conjunction with the seminars, we have just completed a newly-translated version of The Shepherd’s Staff in Nepalese! Thousands of these books are printed and on their way to Nepal, so please pray for their swift and safe arrival. Pray as well for the seminar and travel preparations; for protection against the worsening persecution against Nepali Christians; as well as for pastors’ hearts to be prepared to receive all that the Lord has for them!

CONCLUSION

The Lord Jesus is coming back for us, and He will fulfill all that He has promised! He is preparing His Church – which includes you and me – for that great Day of the Lord when we will stand with Him unashamed and rejoicing in our God and King!

Soon coming Revival!
Revival in the Kingdom of God is spoken of in every corner of the world. Most preachers know about it for it is written in the scriptures, prophesied about many times, talked about by many. The Coming Revival is of God making, will absolutely be done by God Himself and it has not yet started by Now. Satan knows about it too and is worried, and is currently running with it by himself before it actually happens using his own anointed vessels to create confusion in the body of Christ. The Church is still scattered and divided in faith, there is discrimination amongst brothers and sisters, lack of loving one another, etc. Yes! Revival is soon coming and when it comes it will mark the consummation of the Church age. God is going to bring Revival on earth when there is unity of Faith among many brethren, when the Church will be ready to nurture, guide and feed the multitudes of desperate and hungry souls coming into its ranks by the will of God. Right Now, God is busy working on His true and anointed vessels, preparing them and shaping them the way He wanted them to be. They are not famous vessels nor making efforts and trying to be known in the public space. The Revival is surely at hand but the question is; are you one of those faithful ones the Father will use to receive and welcome the long lost sons and daughters of His kingdom? Shalom🙏

Two Keys to a Happy Marriage

Almost every marriage starts out as a huge celebration.

Together with their family and friends, each couple is full of hopes and dreams for their future life together. But the road to a happy marriage is far from easy. And as today’s divorce statistics demonstrate all too well, many couples opt not to complete the journey.

It would be easy to blame our high rate of marital failure on things like not spending enough quality time together, allowing bitterness and resentment to build in our hearts and failing to keep communication lines open. There’s no end to books, articles and seminars that tell you how to improve these and many other aspects of your relationship. But while quality time, forgiveness and communication are vitally important to creating a happy marriage, if such things aren’t happening, it’s usually a sign of a much deeper problem. And until this problem is addressed, no amount of external behavior modification will work.

To get a hint of what this deeper issue might be, let’s take a look at the following Scripture passage:

One of them, an expert in the law, tested him [Jesus] with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied:

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:

‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:35-40)

I believe that virtually every marital problem can be traced back to one or both partners failing to abide by these two laws. The same is true of any relationship. The minute we begin to focus on our own wants and needs over those of God or our partner; we’re destined for trouble.

Experiencing communication problems in your marriage? How often do you really focus on listening to what your partner (or God) has to say instead of insisting on more airtime? Feeling bitterness and resentment growing toward your partner? When was the last time you brought him or her before the Lord in prayer and truly thanked God for your relationship? Struggling to find quality time together? How about praying with your partner and asking God how he would like you to use your time?

As you begin to do these things, you’ll notice that your focus automatically starts to shift away from you and your desires and over to God and your partner. As a result, communication problems begin to improve, anger and resentment fade away and you naturally want to spend more time together. Of course, you can’t expect such changes to happen overnight. Your relationship is also bound to face financial pressures, child-rearing issues and other problems that are beyond your control. But if you commit your relationship to God and make a conscious decision each day to put God and your partner first, your marriage will be able to weather any storm. Not only that; you’ll also have plenty of fun together along the way!

Have you struggled to find happiness in your marriage? Perhaps it’s time you and your spouse invited God to direct your relationship. If you would like to do so, we encourage you to pray the following:

“Dear God, thank you so much for bringing us together as a couple. We know that you have a plan and a purpose for our marriage, and we invite you, Lord Jesus, to forgive the past self-centeredness, and come into our lives and relationship. Direct our steps from now on. Please give us the grace to put You and each other first every day. Make our relationship a blessing to others. But most of all; make it a blessing to You. Amen.”

. A message of regeneration: A person can become a new creature, a new person

1. (2 Corinth 5:17) New Creature— New Man— Regeneration: the message is one of regeneration, the making of a "new creature."

a. What does it mean for a man to become a "new creature"? Very simply, it means just what the Scripture says: the man actually becomes a new creature—his whole being, nature, life, and behavior changes:

⇒ Whereas a man was dead to God, as a new creature he becomes alive to God.

⇒ Whereas a man had no relationship with God, as a new creature he is given a relationship with God.

⇒ Whereas a man was not sure about God, as a new creature he is absolutely certain about God.

⇒ Whereas a man never fellowshipped and communed with God, as a new creature he fellowships and communes with God all the time.

⇒ Whereas a man was living in sin and immorality, as a new creature he lives in righteousness and holiness.

⇒ Whereas a man had to face death, as a new creature he never has to die.

⇒ Whereas a man was doomed to judgment and eternal separation from God, as a new creature he is destined to live eternally in the presence of God.

b. How does a person become a new creature? Note the words of this Scripture: "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature." It is being "in Christ" that makes a person a new creature. When a person truly believes in Christ, God places and positions him in Christ, in all that Christ is. Christ lived and died and arose, so to be in Christ means that a person lives, dies, and arises in Christ. The person who believes in Jesus Christ is identified with Christ: that is, he is counted and considered to be "in Christ," reckoned and credited as "in Christ."

Spelled out in a little more detail, when a person believes in Christ, God places and positions the believer in Christ. The believer's faith actually causes God to identify the believer with Christ.

The Passover:

An apology for taking too long to come back🙏

You know that in the past the way you were living was useless. It was a way of life you learned from those who lived before you. But you were saved from that way of living. You were bought, but not with things that ruin like gold or silver. You were bought with the precious blood of Christ’s death. He was a pure and perfect sacrificial Lamb.
1 Peter 1:18‭-‬19 ERV

As we all know that the Passover was a Jewish celebration remembering their deliverance from Egypt as part of History which prophetically pointed to our own salvation/deliverance from Satan and the power of sin. Does our celebration of it trigger any memory of what really happened that we should celebrate? Does it bring any revival, renewal or reinstatement to our spirit to live our supposedly new life in Christ? Or during the celebrations we enjoy just the re-enactment of the Calvary scene by echoing the painfully uttered words/sayings of Christ hanging on the cross for our sins.

As Apostle Peter says; before knowing and being in Christ, we were living foolish and useless lives. Do we still maintain the gift of new life we received by believing and accepting what Christ did for us? Or we timeously fall back into our old ways of living despite the continued celebration of Passover. What impact does the Passover celebration has in your life? Are you not still living the old way of life you learned from those who lived before you, not from Christ? The prophetic aspect of the Jewish Passover was achieved and fulfilled on Mount Calvary when the Saviour hanged on that cross for your personal sins which pointed to your salvation as a personal aspect. If anyone should celebrate what Christ did for him or her on that cross, would daily live for Christ by obeying and following the counsel and commands of the Holy Spirit in their life and the results would be pure lives and honest living.Hear me correctly, it is not wrong to celebrate your freedom, but the memories of it should bring you back to the intended purpose of what happened.

During the Jewish Passover the lamb was examined for any defects before it was killed, and like wise Christ was examined before He was killed and found sinless or to have no fault by Pilate. Remember the words of Paul, the Apostle; "So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him—an offering that is only for God and pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right that you should worship him in this way." (Romans 12:1 ERV) Do you do a daily examination of any defects in your life as a way of celebrating your own personal Passover (salvation) bought for you by Christ on the cross, when He said; "it is finished?" Passover is a historic event prophetically fulfilled and achieved on the cross with a personal aspect of individual salvation leading to reconciliation of mankind to God. Jesus became our protective covering (in place of the sheep slaughtered) from the destroyer, Satan. Are you insured against Satan, can he passover you because of the protective covering Jesus offers for you? If so can you, like Apostle Paul utter these words; "It is through him that we are able to live, to do what we do, and to be who we are..."(Acts 17:28 ERV)
If the Son sets you free you are free indeed! (John 8:36) it's practically of no use for me to dwell on the Jewish Passover, and repeating what Christ said when dying on the cross than living the life He suffered for me on that cross in order to be reconciled to God.
Enjoy your salvation without being religious, Shalom🙏🙏
