Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa / Verenigende Gereformeerde Kerk in Suider Afrika

The Uniting Reformed Church in Durbanville was established on the 18th of October 1935, then the Dutch Reformed Mission Church. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and is the full and trustworthy (reliable) witness of this revelation. Our vision is to build from faith, hope, love and our steadfastness to serve God, each other and the world. We are based in a sub-economic suburb, Morningstar, near Durbanville CBD, but its regional boundaries also include all farm worker communities in the wider Durbanville area (Kleinroosboom Boutique Winery, Bloemendal Wine Farm, Welgegund Farm and surrounding farms) and Fisantekraal. The demographics of the residents in our congregation are diverse in terms of age and ethnicity. Our ministry is open to all people, young and old, from different backgrounds. We aspire to have as many congregants from the farming communities and Fisantekraal to attend the services and activities. As congregation we are faced with huge challenges, since the areas we serve are densely populated by low income households, the unemployed and receivers of social grants. The areas has also many high risk and vulnerable children that fight for survival from a very young age. As a congregation we are also faced with the challenge of transporting members to and from church as many of them do not have their own transport and access to public transport in the evening is challenging and unsafe. We appreciate any form of assistance, be it making transport available or financially helping us to to serve our congregants needs.
