Called. Prepared. Sent.

Timothy had no credentials like Paul, no connections like Silas. All he had was a faith planted in him before he could walk, a community that watched him live and found him consistent, and a call God had been building into his days since before he was born.

God does not need the most qualified. He needs the called, the prepared, and the willing to be sent, and that includes us.

CALLED. Before Paul arrived in Lystra, God had already been at work. Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." Paul did not create Timothy's call. He identified it. The question is not whether we are called. We are. The question is whether we believe it.

PREPARED. Timothy's preparation came through family, Scripture, and community: his grandmother Lois, his mother Eunice, a faith that dwelt in them first. His complicated background became the very thing God used. Our backgrounds are not what we overcome before God can use us. They are what He is using.

SENT. Paul extended the invitation. Timothy said yes, a costly yes. Being sent means the mission is bigger than our comfort. What are we willing to lay down so the gospel can reach the people we are being sent to?

Called, Prepared, and Sent. That is us. Will we be ready when the call is confirmed?

Grace Is Enough.

Acts 15 addresses one of the most important questions in the gospel:

Is Christ enough?

Some men came from Judea teaching that Gentile believers could not be saved unless they were circumcised and kept the Law of Moses.

Paul and Barnabas strongly opposed them because this was not simply a disagreement about religious practice. It was a question about the gospel itself.

Adding requirements to Christ’s finished work suggests that what He accomplished was not enough.

But the message of the gospel is clear:
“We believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved.” Acts 15:11

At the Jerusalem Council, Peter reminded them that God had already given the Holy Spirit to Gentile believers without requiring them to become keepers of the Law.

God had already accepted them by grace.
James therefore made it clear that the instructions given to the Gentile believers were for fellowship and unity, not additional conditions for salvation.

Grace was not being supplemented. Grace was being protected.

Acts 15 also reminds us that grace is enough when people disagree. Paul and Barnabas had a sharp disagreement over John Mark and separated. Yet Mark was not finished. Later, Paul described him as useful for ministry.

Grace is enough for the gospel, and grace is enough for people.

“You are complete in Him.” Colossians 2:10

We do not need to add to what Christ has finished.

Christ is enough.
His work is finished.
His grace is sufficient.
Grace is enough. ✝️

Finishing What You Started.

The call of God is not always easy, but it is always worth finishing.

In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas faced opposition, rejection, confusion, and even violence. Paul was stoned and left for dead. Yet he got up and continued the mission.

Their example reminds us that boldness is not the absence of pressure, but it is choosing to keep going despite the pressure.

They did not build their own names when people praised them; they pointed the glory back to God. They did not allow the stones to have the final word. And when the work was not finished, they went back to strengthen what had been built.

We are called to:
🔹 Walk in the prepared works God has given us.
🔹 Be bold when it would be easier to stop.
🔹 Keep the glory with God when people celebrate us.
🔹 Get up when the stones come.
🔹 Go back when the work is not yet finished.
🔹 Finish the assignment and testify of what God has done.

The journey may be costly, but the call is worth completing.

“We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22 NKJV

Let us not stop because it got difficult. We must get up. Keep going. Strengthen what has been built. Finish what God has entrusted to us.

Commissioned By The Spirit.

Before the Spirit ever spoke a word, the call was already there.

In Acts 13, the church at Antioch was ministering to the Lord and fasting, simply staying close to Him, when the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” (Acts 13:2, NKJV).

That prayer meeting did not create the call. IT REVEALED IT.

This is Ephesians 2:10 in motion: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

The word workmanship is poiēma, God’s crafted work. His masterpiece. We were made on purpose, with intention and care. Before we were formed, He knew us, and He had already written our days (Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:16).

Barnabas and Saul are the picture, but their story is not only about them. God had a work prepared for them, and HE HAS A WORK PREPARED FOR US, in our homes, our workplaces, our churches, our communities, and among our friends.

We are not waiting to be deployed. WE ARE ALREADY DEPLOYED.

And the message we carry is the most powerful in the world. It is not merely a message of judgment or moral improvement. It is the glorious declaration that THROUGH JESUS, EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IS JUSTIFIED FROM ALL THINGS (Acts 13:39).

Not some things. All things. This is the finished work of Christ.

Some doors will open. Others will close. But when a door closes, the call does not expire. It moves.

Paul and Barnabas encountered opposition and turned to the Gentiles, and the Word continued to advance (Acts 13:46 to 47). The Kingdom does not stop because a door shuts. It simply moves through the next one.

We have a call on our lives. It was there before the Spirit ever spoke it. Now, let us go and work with God.

Only One Name — Last Adam.

The fall of Adam brought dire consequences for all mankind. God had warned him plainly: "for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die" (Genesis 2:17). Adam ate anyway. In that moment, he handed his authority to the devil, choosing to obey him instead of God.

That one act of disobedience separated man from God. And the separation didn't stop with Adam, it reached every human being who would ever be born (Romans 5:12). We were all born under sin's rule as a result.

But God had already made provision, long before Adam ever fell. In His wisdom and foreknowledge, He planned to send Jesus Christ, the second and last Adam, to redeem all of humanity.

For sin to be dealt with, blood had to be shed. Peter puts it this way: "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake." (1 Peter 1:18–20)

Jesus Christ is the only ransom ever given for the whole world, and Revelation 5 shows us just how fitting His sacrifice was. Verse 9 says it best: "And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation." (Revelation 5:9)

One Adam brought death to all. One Last Adam brought life to all. There is no other name that can do what His name has done, and there never will be.

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Only one name. Only one Lamb. Only one Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Kingdom Cannot Be Chained.

Acts 12 marks a major turning point. Up to this point, the Church faced religious persecution. Now a political ruler steps in. King Herod Agrippa kills James with the sword and locks Peter in prison, chained between soldiers, awaiting ex*****on.

It looked like darkness was winning. Yet the night before Peter was meant to die, he was asleep. Not restless. Deeply asleep, so deep that the angel had to strike him to wake him.

How is that possible?

Peter knew whom he belonged to. Death had lost its sting. Fear had lost its grip. His peace was not based on changed circumstances because the chains were still real, and the ex*****on was still scheduled. It was the peace Jesus gives: “Peace I leave with you… not as the world gives…” John 14:27

Then an angel appeared. Chains fell off. Guards were passed. The iron gate opened by itself. Peter walked free!

Why was James killed and Peter delivered?

Both men had already surrendered everything. Faith was not the difference in what they experienced. Both rejoiced to suffer for Jesus’ name (Acts 5:41). One died in faith. One was freed in faith. Both outcomes glorified the same Lord.

God moves as He chooses to advance His Kingdom.

And Luke ends the chapter with these powerful words: “But the word of God grew and multiplied.” (Acts 12:24)

No prison, no king, no sword can stop the Kingdom.

May we walk in that same unshakable peace.
May we live to finish our race.
