The moon signalling the commencement of the sacred Hijri month of Dhul Hijjah 1447 has NOT been sighted in South Africa.

Thus the 1st will commence on Monday evening 18th May 2026 with the onset of Maghrib.

The TASBEEH OF TASHRIQ will begin after Fajr on Wednesday 27th and finish on Sunday 31st May 2026.

Eidul Adha will be celebrated on Thursday, 28 May 2026 in South Africa.

May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifices and honour us with His pleasure. Ameen.

Implications :

If the Hilal is sighted in South Africa on Thursday, then 1st of Shawwaal will commence from Maghrib with the day of Eidul Fitr being celebrated on Friday, 20th March, 2026.

If the Hilal is not sighted, then the month of Ramadaan will complete 30 days and the day of Eidul Fitr will fall on Saturday, 21st March 2026.
