This Sunday was a standalone service, with many of our church family away, unwell, or unable to attend due to the Comrades Marathon.

While our gathering was smaller than usual, it was still a special time of fellowship, worship, and encouragement as we came together in God's presence.
Johan shared a message on learning to trust God. Looking at Numbers 23:19, we were reminded that God is faithful and true to His word. We reflected on the wonder and wisdom of God from Romans 11:33, and were encouraged by Proverbs 3:5 to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly rather than relying on our own understanding. It was a timely reminder that God is in control, that we can rest securely in Him, and that the outcome of our circumstances ultimately rests in His hands rather than our own efforts.

We had an extended time of worship together. This allowed people slow down and spend time in God's presence.

Children’s Ministry was led by Aunty Shelley, and the children spent time learning about prayer. This was followed by a fun activity that helped reinforce the lesson in a practical way.

ACTS: The Church in Motion - Part Two

Mike began this Sundays message by saying:
"It's important that as we journey through the book of Acts together, we read it not just as a record of the work of the apostles, but as the record of an active, living Jesus building His Church."

Acts 2:41 says:
"Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day."

The Church was now established in Jerusalem. With people from many different nations and language groups coming to faith in Jesus, so how did they communicate with one another?

The early Church would most likely have adopted Koine Greek ("common Greek") as its primary language of communication. Koine Greek was widely spoken throughout the Mediterranean world and served as the common language of trade, culture, and government.

It is also the language in that most of the New Testament was written. This common language enabled believers to communicate effectively, spread the Gospel, and help the Church grow across different regions and cultures.

Mike spoke about how our language as Christians should be different. People should be able to recognize that we belong to Jesus not only by what we believe, but also by the way we speak and behave.
The words we use have the power to build up, encourage, and point people toward Christ. As followers of Jesus, our words should reflect His character and grace.

Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Colossians 4:6
"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

Just as the early Church used a common language to communicate the message of Jesus and reach the world around them, our language today remains a powerful tool for sharing the Gospel.
The way we speak, communicate, and interact with others should reflect the love, truth, and grace of Christ. Our words can open doors for meaningful conversations, demonstrate the reality of our faith, and help people encounter Jesus.

As the Church continues to move forward, our language remains one of the ways God uses us to reach people and make Jesus known.

ACTS: The Church In Motion – Part One
Mike started our brand-new series this past Sunday by laying the foundation for what we can expect in the weeks ahead. We discussed the book of Acts, who wrote it, who was involved, and the historical context surrounding its message.

A key focus of the sermon was the New Testament church. Mike reminded us that the church was never meant to be a building, but rather a gathering of believers. The word ecclesia, used in the biblical context, refers to a congregation or community of people called out of the world and united in faith. From the very beginning of Acts, we see Jesus commissioning His followers and preparing them to continue His mission through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The message challenged us to rethink our understanding of church. Church is not simply a place we attend on a Sunday—it is who we are. As followers of Christ, we are called to carry the message of Jesus wherever we go. In John 20:21-23, Jesus sends His disciples just as the Father sent Him, empowering them for ministry and mission. Likewise, in Matthew 16:18, Jesus declares that He will build His church.

As we begin working our way through Acts, we are reminded that the Church is not a destination—it is a movement. Acts 1:1-8 highlights Jesus' final instructions to His disciples and His promise that they would receive power through the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses. This calling continues today as believers live out their faith in their communities and beyond.

The message also encouraged us to pursue peace and unity in our relationships. Romans 12:18-19 reminds us to live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on us and to trust God with justice rather than seeking revenge ourselves.

As we journey through Acts together, we are reminded that the Church is Christ's Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, commissioned to continue His mission, and called to reflect His character in the world.

Winter is here, and for us at Frontier Church, that means having our service outside and soaking up the South African sunshine. The landscape transforms from deep greens to a tapestry of golden-brown hues. Despite the chilly temperatures, there is a warmth in the atmosphere that is difficult to explain, yet unmistakably felt. It is found in the bright smiles that greet you at the door, the hugs exchanged between friends and family, and the conversations shared before and after the service. It is heard in the laughter and seen in the joy of children running and playing on the open ground.

This Sunday, we launch our new sermon series “ACTS: The Church In Motion”

The book of Acts is more than history, it’s a picture of what happens when ordinary people are filled with extraordinary faith.

In this series, we’ll explore what it means to live a faith that moves:
Moving in purpose
Moving in unity
Moving in mission

As we work through Acts together, our prayer is that we learn how to be the kind of church that lives boldly, loves deeply, and carries the message of Jesus into every space we enter.

PENTECOST SUNDAY

Sundays at Frontier Church are the highlight of our week. We love getting to see all your beautiful smiles and welcoming you in with big hugs.
This Sunday, we celebrated Aunty Glynis’s birthday. The family prayed a blessing over her, and we sang her a heartfelt birthday song together.
Jenny shared her testimony with the church, speaking about the power of prayer and obedience, encouraging everyone that our God is the God of answered prayers.
Paula led a beautiful worship set, and as you looked across the room, you could see so many people deeply engaged in worship.
This Sunday also marked the final part of our series, “The Time Between.” Mike spoke about Pentecost—what it is, why we celebrate it, and what we can still take away from it as a church today.
Main points from the message:
-God gives believers the Holy Spirit
-The Holy Spirit empowers us to live for Christ
-The Gospel is for every nation and every person
-We are called to walk in faith, unity, and boldness

Acts 1:8 — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…”
Joel 2:28 — “God promises to pour out His Spirit on all people.”

There was such a sense of warmth and community after the service as people mingled and enjoyed fellowship together. These photos say it all—we are a diverse family, with a lot of love.
