FROM FAILURE TO STARDOM

TEXT: 1 CHRONICLES 4:9-10

MEMORY VERSE: "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested" (1 CHRONICLES 4:10).

"Only God has the power to transform our lives from nothing to something. In times of struggle, remember to keep praying and be patient with yourself", Divine Candy submitted.

The sovereign God controls the universe and things in it. He has the power to save, heal and deliver. Interestingly, He also has the power to raise one from the valley to the mountain top. Jabez in our text, was a man of sorrow but he realized the need of a change in his life. He approached God through prayer, and received his desired miracle.

Are you in need of a change in your life? It could be the need of the salvation of your soul, so that you can escape hell and make heaven at last. It could be a need of good health or wisdom to excel in your academics.

Whatever is the situation, you only need to call upon God like Jabez did, and you will be fine. The journey to stardom begins with salvation in Christ which provides access to the throne of grace. You can change your situation through prayers.

QUOTE: Change your situation through prayers.

CHALLENGE: God has the power to change your situation.

PRAYER: Lord, change all negative circumstances in my life to positive ones.

```THE SIGHT THAT DAZZLES```
*TEXT:* JOSHUA 7:19-25
*MEMORY VERSE:* _"When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them..."_ (JOSHUA 7:21)
The human eye has the incredible potentials of resolution of approximately 576 megapixels which is higher than most digital cameras, with a field view of around 180 degrees horizontally and 135 degrees vertically. It can track moving objects at a speed of 100 degrees per second and focus on an object as close as ten centimetres. It is a great gift of our Creator for sight.
Achan, a soldier in the Israeli army, put this wonderful gift to the wrong use. He was extremely covetous and flagrantly disobeyed the instruction of God in the conquest of Jericho. He flouted the tenth commandment. His sinful action brought a shameful defeat to the soldiers of Israel. He eventually lost his life, family and property for this criminal act. He never lived to enjoy all that dazzled to his uncontrolled sight.
Covetousness has destroyed great destinies and potentials of many young people. Beware of what your eyes see and your heart meditates on. Bring the whole of your senses under the control of the Spirit of God. The sight that dazzles sometimes holds the key to destruction.
*QUOTE:* Beware of what your eyes see.
*CHALLENGE:* Put your senses to positive uses.
*PRAYER:* Lord, give me the grace to exercise control over my sight.
*THE ROAD IS VERY NARROW*
*TEXT:* MATTHEW 7:13-14
MEMORY VERSE:
*"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it"* (MATTHEW 7:14)
Nicky Cruz, a notorious New York City gang leader, chose the narrow way when he converted to Christianity. He renounced his gang life and embraced God. He became a pastor and an evangelist. His transformation is a testament to the power of Christ's redemption. His decision to surrender his life to God is noble and worthy of emulation.
Are you at crossroads of decision making to serve the living God? Jesus is the narrow road that leads to eternal life. You can be among the few that can find Him today. The narrow way leads to eternal bliss. It's a path that requires discipline, self-control, and willingness to say no to worldly pleasures.
On the other hand, the broad road is enticing with temporary pleasures and fleeting happiness. But it leads to destruction and eternal separation from God.
As a youth, you have the power to choose which road you'll take. Choose the narrow road today, and start your journey to a bright eternal future! Those who spurn the call to the narrow road today will regret it all through eternity.
*QUOTE:*
You have the power to choose.
*THE MEDIATOR*
*TEXT:* 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-7
MEMORY VERSE:
*"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 TIMOTHY 2:5)
Jane Goodall, a renowned primatologist, mediated a peaceful resolution between the Tanzanian government and local villagers who were in conflict over conservation efforts. In the 1990s, the government had established the Gombe Stream National Park, but the villagers felt their livelihoods were being threatened.
Goodall facilitated a dialogue between the two parties, helping them to find a common ground and develop sustainable solutions. Her mediation led to the establishment of community-led conservation initiatives, which benefitted both the villagers and the environment, and earned Goodall the recognition for her diplomatic efforts.
Jesus Christ is our Mediator who bridges the gap between God and humanity, providing:
*(1) Reconciliation: Restoring our relationship with God through His sacrifice.*
*(2) Forgiveness: Cancelling our sins and guilt through His blood.*
*(3) Redemption: Freeing us from the bo***ge of sin and its consequences.*
*(4) Intercession: Advocating for us before God, ensuring our prayers are heard.*
*(5) Access: Enabling us to approach God confidently, without fear or shame.*
You can only come to God through Christ, the Mediator between man and God.
*THE SCARLET THREAD*
*TEXT:* JOSHUA 2:8-21
MEMORY VERSE:
*"Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee"* (JOSHUA 2:18)
OhThis is the story of the redemption of a chronic sinner and her household. Scarlet is red, the colour of blood. During the first Passover in Egypt, the Israelites were ordered to apply the blood of a lamb on their doorposts to make the Angel of Death avoid their houses. The lamb points to Jesus, the ultimate Passover Lamb.
In our text, Rahab, the harlot, begged the spies for her life and those of her relations. She was given the scarlet thread as a token of the covenant between her and the spies. Upon seeing the scarlet thread, the Israelites spared all the inhabitants of Rahab's house during the destruction of Jericho.
The scarlet thread points to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ for humanity. The condition of abiding in the house given for the safety of the people points to the need to remain in Christ after our salvation. Sinful youths who come under the blood of Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God will be saved and preserved from the calamities that will soon come upon the world.
*THE REWARD OF DILIGENCE*
*TEXT:* PROVERBS 12:23-28
MEMORY VERSE:
*"The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute"* (PROVERBS 12:24).
In a world where laziness and indolence are increasingly prevalent, the virtue of diligence stands out as a beacon of hope and a guarantee for success. Diligence is not just about working hard; it's about working smart and cultivating a mindset that values excellence, precision, and attention to details. There is a reward for every labour, in the form of money, outstanding recognition, certification, and so on.
Today's text shows us the difference between the life of the diligent and the slothful youth. While the slothful youth is an unwise person who is talkative and lazy, and may end up in hardship and servitude, the diligent one is a prudent person who puts in extra efforts in his or her studies, and could emerge as the best student among his or her peers.
A combination of righteousness and diligence gives you advantages over those who hate the gospel. The way of the sinning youth is rough and hard; it requires repentance from sin and surrendering of life to Christ to come out of bo***ge, in order to make the difference.
*QUOTE:*
*REWARD FOR A DEED OF KINDNESS*
*TEXT:* MATTHEW 10:40-42
MEMORY VERSE:
*"And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward"* (MATTHEW 10:42)
Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, make our Earth an Eden, like heaven above. Kindness is a core value that guides us to treat others with respect and love. It is a gift that everyone can afford to give to others. It is a way to make this world a better place to live in.
Acts of kindness are deeply rooted in the Bible. Jesus emphasized kindness in His teachings, urging youths of this generation to love their neighbours who could be their classmates, church members and everyone that crosses their path. Following His example, will make a significant difference in the lives of those around us.
There is no act of kindness that is ever wasted. Even the smallest light can brighten the darkest room. Kindness is a component of the fruit of the Spirit which is rewardable with the crown of life. True kindness can only be manifested by those who have given their lives to Christ and have been cleansed from sin. Go to Jesus, and He will purge you and empower you to possess kindness.
*THE RESOLUTION OF THE RECHABITES*
*TEXT:* JEREMIAH 35:1-11
MEMORY VERSE:
*"But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever"* (JEREMIAH 35:6)
In the 2nd century, there lived a man called Polycarp, a bishop of Smyrna, modern-day Izmir, Turkey, whose death is one of the most famous accounts of early Christian martyrdom. According to historical sources, Polycarp was arrested for his faith, and the Roman authorities ordered him to recant his faith, but he refused.
Resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. The Rechabites were resolute to follow the instruction given by their father. Their faithfulness and obedience were used by God to contrast the disobedience of the people of Judah, highlighting the Rechabites' faithfulness as a model.
As the Rechabites were resolute in following their father's instructions, so also are we to be resolute in following the instructions of God written in the Holy Bible and the godly counsel of our parents, and leaders in the church in order to succeed and please God. Also, we are to be steadfast in taking our stand for Jesus Christ, and not to compromise our faith in the face of trials and persecution. Remember Polycarp.
*QUOTE:*
Resolve to follow Jesus Christ till the end.
*THE QUINTESSENTIAL BOOK*
*TEXT:* PSALM 19:7-14
MEMORY VERSE:
*"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple"* (PSALM 19:7)
The Bible is the most important book we can ever read. In our text, the psalmist describes God's Word as perfect, trustworthy, and full of wisdom. It's not just a book of rules, but a guide for our lives.
God's Word helps us to know what is right and wrong, and it shows us how to live in a way that honours God. God's Word is something more valuable than gold and sweeter than honey. That shows us how precious the Bible is.
It's not just about learning facts; it's about living by what we read and allowing it to change our lives for the better. When we follow God's Word, we are warned against making mistakes, and we are rewarded with peace and joy in return.
Great men, like Billy Graham, a well-known Christian leader, became successful because he relied on God's Word for guidance in his life. By reading and obeying the Bible, we can find peace, joy, and the strength to overcome challenges. The Bible is also a tool for success in school, relationships, and future life.
```THE PURE IN HEART```

*MEMORY VERSE:* _“He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully”_ (Psalms 24:4).

*TEXT:* PSALMS 24:3-6

The first verse of our text, poses a question: Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place? The next verse provides the answer, which is a christian youth with clean hands, a pure heart, and who has not lifted up his or her soul to vanity nor sworn deceitfully. Our concentration is on purity of heart which is another word for holiness. Also, a pure heart is one that is rid of grudges, rancour, bitterness, hatred, malice, prejudice, jealousy and all forms of sinful practices.

A youth with a pure heart sets aside selfish ambitions and genuinely seeks God. It is called the heart of flesh. Having a pure heart starts with confession and repentance of all known sins and meditating on God's Word regularly. If you yield yourself to God, He is willing and faithful to give you a pure heart. To remain pure, you need to daily seek the face of God in prayer, have an enriching study of the Word, and regular fellowship with the people of God.

*PRAYER:* Heavenly Father, make my heart pure in Jesus’ name.

*QUOTE:* it is called the heart of flesh.

*THE POSSIBILITIES OF PRAISES*

*TEXT:* 2 CHRONICLES 20:20-27

MEMORY VERSE:
*"And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much"* (2 CHRONICLES 20:25)

"When praises ascend to heaven, then wonders descend" is a popular saying among Pentecostal Churches. The account of 2 Chronicles 20:20-27 illustrates the possibilities of praises and manifestation of God's presence to identify with His children, to bless them.

King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were faced with an intimidating and relentless enemy; but instead of giving in to fear, they chose to trust God and praise His name. God, in response, did wonders on their behalf, causing confusion among their enemies and granting His people victory.

The case of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25 also serves as a reminder to believers that genuine praise often precedes great manifestations of God's intervention in the affairs of His people; whereby, He grants them desired victories.

Praising God shifts our focus from our challenges to the greatness of God. Praises not only magnify God, but also invite His presence into our situations. Surround yourself with the atmosphere of praise, and witness great possibilities in your life. However, praising God has to be accompanied with a holy life for it to be effective.

*THE POSSIBILITIES OF FAITH*

*TEXT:* MARK 9:20-27

MEMORY VERSE:
*"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth"* (MARK 9:23)

Voltaire said, "Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe." Faith in God, in line with this quote, is about absolute trust in God even when things look scary.

Faith is one of the principles that God has established in His word, for us to enter into and enjoy our relationship with Him. The Scriptures clearly reveal that it is not possible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6).

God is a Spirit, and He operates in the realm of spirits. Since we are humans, we cannot fully understand how He works. We therefore have to arm ourselves with faith to connect to and receive from Him.

The woman who suffered with the issue of blood for twelve years received instantaneous healing by touching the helm of Christ's garment by faith. Jesus is still honouring faith today.

No matter how long or irredeemable your problem seems to be, if you can believe and pray to God today, He will answer you and grant your heart's desires. Our prayers are effective when we are born-again and obedient to His Word.

*QUOTE:*
He will answer you.
