*GIVING CURES GREED*
*Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.*
Jesus was not saying to seek the kingdom first, then seek other things. Not at all. He was speaking of priority. He meant to seek the kingdom primarily.
• Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
If God cares for the birds of the air, how much more you. God is the giver, our work does not bring the blessings of God.
Believers should not seek after things like unbelievers. God know what we need, and he provides for our needs.
• 2nd Corinthians 8:6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. Vs 7 Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
Titus was sent to the church at Corinth to ensure they functioned in the same grace of giving as the church at Macedonia. The church at Corinth was functioning in other Grace but they needed to be taught to give.
There is the grace of God on a saved man to give, that grace breaks the hold of greed, selfishness and covetousness such that a man will give irrespective of his financial situation.
Not having enough is not an excuse not to give.
• John 6:9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
The young boy gave what he had without bothering if it was too little to meet the needs of the crowd.
Never criticize the act of giving, giving is of God.
Confession: I function in the Grace of God to give despite my financial situation, I am not greedy or covetous.
