The True Church

The church is not an enterprise designed for man's economic benefit. She is the Bride of Christ, faithfully awaiting the return of her Bridegroom. She does not exist to enrich egotistical leaders seeking financial prosperity, personal influence, or popularity. Rather, she stands as a lighthouse in a dark world, drawing lost humanity to the saving light of the Gospel.

When Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers, He confronted the commercialization and exploitation that had corrupted the sacred space. His concern was not the rejection of giving, for tithes and offerings are necessary, nor the denial that those who labor in ministry should be supported. Rather, He condemned the exploitation and profiteering that had displaced worship and corrupted the purpose of God's house.

Financial giving must remain an expression of worship, never a means for personal enrichment. Christ acted decisively to drive out those who exploited the worshippers and to restore God's house as a house of prayer.

Sadly, the prosperity gospel's widespread influence and the pursuit of self-promoting leadership have deeply tainted parts of the modern church. The true church must therefore return to her first love, Christ alone, by rejecting greed, resisting the commercialization of ministry, and faithfully proclaiming the Gospel until her Bridegroom returns.

Faithful Proclamation in the Age of Social Media

The unprecedented reach of social media has given countless voices a public platform to speak on matters of faith and theology. While the public proclamation of biblical truth is both necessary and commendable, it also demands reverence, Biblical competence, and faithfulness to the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27). Scripture warns that not many should presume to teach, for those who do will be judged with greater strictness (James 3:1).

One of the greatest distortions of contemporary Christianity is the reduction of God to a divine provider whose chief purpose is to secure our comfort, prosperity, and personal success. While God is indeed loving, gracious, and generous toward His children, His supreme purpose is not our temporal happiness but our conformity to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29) and the glory of His own name. The biblical call is one of holiness, self-denial, sacrificial obedience, steadfast endurance in suffering, and joyful anticipation of Christ's return (1 Peter 1:15–16; Luke 9:23; Philippians 2:12–13).

Much of modern Christianity is packaged to attract consumers rather than make disciples. It often celebrates blessings while neglecting repentance, promises crowns while ignoring crosses, and speaks of victory without preparing believers for suffering. Yet Jesus never concealed the cost of discipleship: "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23).

Social media may amplify your voice and enhance your image, but neither popularity nor influence is the measure of faithful ministry. The enduring question is not how compelling you appear before an audience, but whether your message faithfully reflects the truth of God's Word. Let every public proclamation be measured not by its likes or followers, but by its unwavering allegiance to the Scriptures and its exaltation of Jesus Christ.

The Fallacy of Modern Communication

I have come to believe that our growing reliance on emojis has made us less intentional in our communication. It is often easier to send a symbol than to pause, reflect, and respond with thoughtful words. Yet even a brief sentence conveys care, respect, and genuine engagement in ways an emoji seldom can.

As Christians, we are called to use the gift of language to encourage and build up others. In an age of convenience, may our communication be marked not by speed, but by grace, thoughtfulness, and love.
