Why Barabbas!

That reprobate, that criminal, that God-defying sinner! Are you blind? Could you not see the goodness of Jesus? How could you choose Barabbas instead of Jesus Christ?

But then….

Did He not choose me?
Barabbas was me! A reprobate, a depraved, God-defying sinner, yet God chose me, sending His Son to redeem me, trading my filthy rags for His garments of righteousness, justifying and accepting me. He traded my worthless existence for eternal purpose. Yes, when I deserved eternal condemnation, God chose me instead! A glance of the Savior upon the violent cross, a second glimpse of the empty tomb, and I am instantly rescued, adopted, and called His own.
