Jesus Prayed All Night
Luke 6:12-13 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles.
Beloved, observe the sacred sequence in this passage: before the naming, there was the kneeling. Before the appointing, there was the anointing of the oil of travail. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, in whom dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, did not rely on His divine intuition to make this pivotal decision that would shake the foundations of the earth. He was about to choose the twelve men who would carry the gospel to the ends of the world, yet He withdrew to a mountain and engaged in a spiritual wrestling match that lasted from sunset to sunrise. If the Perfect Man felt the necessity to labour in prayer for an entire night before making a life-changing decision, how dare we, with our limited vision and fragile wisdom, rush into critical junctions of life armed only with our feelings? The Master’s vigil exposes our spiritual laziness. He prayed all night, not because God was reluctant to answer, but because the weight of the assignment required a total detachment from the noise of the crowd and a complete alignment with the frequency of Heaven. Before you choose a spouse, before you change that career, before you relocate to that city, the example of Jesus challenges you and I to consider how devoted to prayer we must be when we have to make major, life-changing decisions for our lives.
Now, the question to you today is: have you prayed? I am not asking if you have panicked, or if you have consulted friends, or if you have conducted a research analysis. I am asking, have you tarried in the place of power until the dew of Heaven saturated your confusion? The text says, “He continued all night in prayer to God.” This was not a quick, drowsy wish whispered in haste; this was a holy transaction. It was in that nocturnal altar that the fisherman, the zealot, and even the traitor were assigned their lots. Some destinies are sealed only in the midnight hour. Your flesh will always suggest an easier route, and the world will demand immediate action, but the Spirit is calling us back to the garden, back to the mountain, back to the place of utter dependency. If you haven't prayed it through, you are not ready to move forward. A decision made outside of the prayer chamber is a disaster waiting to happen. Let us repent of our prayerlessness and return to the altar, knowing that before the morning of manifestation comes, there must be a night of deep supplication.
Prayer Points
1. O Lord, ignite in my spirit the grace of violent, all-night prayer; kill the spirit of slumber and spiritual laziness that destroys destiny, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every power of confusion assigned to hijack my decision-making faculty, be scattered by fire; I receive the mind of Christ to make covenant choices that align with my divine purpose, in the name of Jesus.
3. My Father my God, as I separate myself to seek Your face concerning my life’s crucial decisions, let the voice of strangers be silenced, let Your clear direction thunder from Heaven into my spirit, in the name of Jesus.
Thank you Lord for answered prayers in Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen!
God bless you
