Daily Dose: “Father’s Love”

Scripture:
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son…” (Luke 15:20)

Reflection:
We just celebrated Fathers’ Day a few days ago. God bless all the fathers in our lives. We love you all.

Luke 15 speaks to the theme of the “lost.” Have you ever felt so lost that you couldn't even describe your location over the phone? Life can sometimes leave us feeling adrift, especially when we grow up without fathers who can teach us the essential lessons only a father can impart.
At times, we may find ourselves lost because the fathers in our lives are navigating their own struggles and don’t know how to guide us.

The parable of the Prodigal Son beautifully illustrates the unconditional love of a father. No matter how far we stray, our Heavenly Father waits with open arms for our return. You may have grown up without a father in your life, but I want to remind you this morning that your Heavenly Father is always there to welcome you back, to forgive your past mistakes, and to set your life on a new and promising path.

Don’t allow the wounds from your relationship with your father, or what transpired between your parents, to hinder your progress in life. You can always turn to God, our Heavenly Father, and ask for wisdom and direction. He is nearer to the broken-hearted than you can imagine. The Bible assures us in James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

God, our Father, loves you, my brother and sister in Christ. He desires for you to prosper in life, and He has good thoughts about you. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” When our Heavenly Father thinks of us, He has a song in His heart, reflecting the depth of His love for us:

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”(Zacharia 3:17)

Take time this morning to reflect on the love and grace that are always available to you, regardless of your past or the situation you are in today. God, our Father loves you.

Action Step:
If you feel distant from your father, earthly or heavenly, consider taking a step toward reconciliation. Write a letter, pray for healing, or simply reach out. Remember, it’s never too late to return and embrace the love that awaits you.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with an open heart, seeking Your love and guidance. Thank You for being the perfect Father who welcomes us back with compassion and grace. Help me to let go of past hurts and to embrace the healing that only You can provide.

Grant me wisdom as I navigate my life and remind me that I am never truly lost when I have You by my side. Fill my heart with Your love and help me to reflect that love to others. Thank You for the plans You have for my life, plans that bring hope and a future. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Daily Dose: “Living for Eternity”

Scripture:
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

Reflection:
As we reflect on our lives, we must consider the eternal impact of our choices. Are you living in a way that honors God? Some may say, “We listen, we don’t judge.” While I can agree with that sentiment, we must remember that God does judge. How can you align your daily actions with His commandments?

The book of Revelation tells us that on Judgment Day, the Book of Life will be opened, and each of us will account for all that we did, whether good or bad, while we were here on earth (see Revelation 20:12).

My dear sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters in Christ, each one of us will one day stand before God to give an account. Many young people only reflect on this truth when another young person has died. You may see social media posts with phrases like:

"untimely death," "he was so young," or "I can't find the words to express my shock; I was texting her just the other day."

The reality is that there is life after death. So why not live your life according to God’s kingdom standards today, so that you can inherit eternity after death? Why not start today to align your life with the Word of God?

We’re not dictating (asinilawuli); we’re simply sharing what makes strategic sense.

Stop saying you’re being judged when you are being guided and corrected by Scripture. In truth, no one is judging you; it is the Word of God that serves as the standard against which we all ought to measure our lives.

You are young, and I understand that. Many of us have been young at some point, and the truth is, we may have acted foolishly. However, through God’s grace, we learned to walk by faith and humbly with Him.

Don’t use the excuse that your parents made the same mistakes or that everyone else is doing the same. It is wise to learn from others’ mistakes, but it is foolish to repeat the same errors you’ve already witnessed. You know the consequences; so why not choose to be wiser? Make the right and Godly decisions as you build your future today.

Today is Friday, some young people will be saying "sisayodla ubusha bethu (isiZulu: we're enjoying our youth days) or say "ons leef dit op," (in Afrikaans)

What you do today will bear fruit tomorrow. How you live here on earth will be judged in the afterlife. Live holy today so that you may inherit eternal life when the time comes. It is never too late to repent, confess, as your loving Father in heaven to forgive and help you build Godly future while young. Do not live for today but live for eternity .

Lord, help me to live a life, in m, youth days, that honors You. May my actions reflect Your love and truth as I seek to build a future that glorifies You. Amen.

Daily Dose: “The Dangers of Delay”

Scripture:
“Remember Him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well.” (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7)

Reflection:
Time is fleeting, and the longer we delay in seeking God, the more we risk missing out on His blessings.

Many young people spend a significant portion of their youth and productive years loafing around, rather than investing in their spiritual growth and a God-centered future. They often think, “Oh, I’m too young…” Yet, King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, warns us:

“Remember Him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well.”

Some biblical scholars interpret this passage as a call to be in good standing with God before aging and facing the end of life. They suggest that Solomon’s references to the silver cord and golden bowl symbolize the inevitability of death.

My daughters, sons, brothers and sisters in Christ, before you grow old or face the unavoidable transition from this world to the next, whether to heaven or hell, seek God. Let me hasten to mention that whether your afterlife destination will be heaven or hell depends on your relationship with God. Therefore, strive to cultivate a meaningful relationship with Him. Live a Godly life and adhere to His kingdom standards.

Remember, don’t delay. Never think, “I’ll live as I please now, and maybe when I reach my grandparents’ age, I’ll return to God.” The Bible cautions us against procrastination:

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.” (Proverbs 27:1).

Dear God, help me to take action in my spiritual journey today. Don’t let me delay in seeking You and fulfilling the purpose You have for my life. Amen.

Daily Dose: “Facing Challenges with Faith”

Scripture:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

Reflection:
In any puzzling situation, it’s essential to follow the right steps. When facing challenges, remember to pray and ask God to reveal the path you need to take. One valuable lesson I’ve learned in life is that prioritizing what matters most leads to lasting solutions. Consider the analogy of building a house: starting with the walls instead of the foundation would be disastrous. Similarly, trying to use a new gadget without charging it first is futile. Prioritizing the essentials pays off in the long run.

This principle is especially important for us as young people of faith. Always place God first in your life, and you’ll find that everything else falls into place more easily. Unfortunately, many young people only think of God when they encounter difficulties.

At Berea Congregational Church, we are currently in a season of “Kingdom Building – The Reason.” Our focus on building God’s kingdom in this small corner of the Lord’s vineyard is simple: investing in raising a God-fearing and kingdom-focused generation today will yield a significant spiritual return on investment in the long run. The Bible says, “Train a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6).

This past Sunday sermon, we were reminded by my sister Kea Kgatwe, our church’s BLAST Youth Ministry convenor, to “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them.’” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

Don’t wait until trouble strikes before you seek Him. Don’t wait until you’re in a season of lack to look for God. The Bible clearly states that if you seek God’s kingdom first, all these other things will be added to you. There lies your secret to success in life.

Life is filled with challenges, but when we seek God first, we discover strength and guidance. Reflect on a current challenge you are facing. How can seeking God change your perspective on this situation?

Lord, help me to seek You in every challenge I face. Grant me the wisdom and strength to overcome obstacles with faith. Amen.
