“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being a priest for me…..” Hosea 4:6
“For in much wisdom, there is much grief, And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.” Ecclesiastes 1:18
What a juxtaposition!!!
It is God who spoke to Hosea these words. Truly, we dearly pay for our ignorance. And it’s painful. God hates people who lack knowledge because they end up rejecting HIM or doing absurd things with an excuse that they didn’t know anything concerning the matter for their actions.
On the other hand, Solomon cries out differently. He says, “To increase knowledge leads to an increase of sorrow”.
It's a fact that once you know something, you are expected to be responsible and accountable for your actions.
There are things that we would wish to do, but we wouldn’t, because we know something, at times even the consequences thereof. Likewise, there are things we would wish to do, but wouldn’t because of the lack of knowledge and understanding about them.
Again, there are wrong things that we literally do because we lack knowledge. As a result, we get destroyed. And at times, we do these things wittingly.
Many a time, I have seen that people like to prophesy. However, they don’t know the troubles underlying the prophecies. Some revelations don’t leave peace to the prophets. They bring grief, sorrow, and misery until God does something about them. Or those revelations word come to pass.
For example, Daniel,
"And I, Daniel, fainted and was sick for days afterward......I was astonished by the vision, but no one understood it." Daniel 8:27
Daniel saw a vision that got him sick.
Why was he sick?
"KNOWLEDGE OF SOMETHING" or "KNOWING MORE THAN HE COULD HANDLE."
On the other hand, Solomon states, “Through knowledge, the righteous shall be delivered.” Proverbs 11:9
Even though knowledge may increase sorrow, it brings wisdom and skills to prosper in life.
