God never called us to a comfortable, casual or compromised faith. He called us to a devoted relationship with Him. Many believers gradually adopt a routine, lukewarm form of Christianity that appears spiritual but lacks genuine passion, hunger, and surrender. This kind of Christianity may feel comfortable, but it is not what God desires and can not transform lives. Lukewarm Christianity is rooted in comfort. We begin to measure our spiritual life by comparison - by how often we attend church, how much we know or how we appear to others. God wants passion and devotion, not perfection or performance. It is important to consistently cultivate one’s spiritual commitment. Many individuals experience a decline in their devotion not due to overt rejection, but as a result of gradual neglect. Prayer is practiced intermittently rather than consistently. The Scripture is regarded as familiar rather than as a source of vitality. Worship becomes habitual instead of fostering a sense of closeness. When we neglect prayer, the Word and intimacy with God, the flame slowly fades. Increasing the fire begins with repentance and hunger. The process starts when we recognise we’ve become complacent and seek renewed inspiration. If you sense your passion has faded, don’t lose hope. God wants an intimate relationship with you, and He delights in reviving His people. God is always ready to rekindle a heart that truly desires Him.
