I've always wondered what this part of Psalm 23 meant. I thought, “He anoints my head with oil” was just figurative language for God keeping the psalmist and shepherd healthy. But I never knew this natural parallel could bring such deep insight.
"He anoints my head with oil."
Sheep can get their heads caught in briers—those prickly, thorny bushes—and literally die trying to get untangled. There are also horrid little flies that torment the sheep by laying eggs in their nostrils. These eggs hatch into worms, driving the sheep to beat their head against rocks, sometimes to the point of death. It’s excruciating pain. Their ears and eyes are also vulnerable to these tormenting insects.
So, the shepherd anoints their whole head with oil. Then there is peace. The oil forms a barrier of protection against the evil that tries to destroy the sheep. It shields and protects them.
Do you have times of mental torment? Anxiety? Worry? Stress? Over-thinking? Over-analyzing? Painful migraine headaches? Do worrisome thoughts invade your mind over and over, making it hard to find peace?
Have you ever felt like you’re beating your head against a wall, trying to stop them?
Have you ever asked God to anoint your head with oil?
He has an ENDLESS SUPPLY! His oil shields, protects, and makes it possible for you to fix your heart, mind, and eyes on Him today and always. He will keep your mind in perfect peace when you keep it stayed on Him.
May our Good, Good Father anoint your head with oil today, so that your cup overflows with blessings!
Allow His Oil of Joy, Gladness, and Peace to cover your mind and permeate your soul TODAY in Jesus’ Name!

Johann Sebastian Bach knew grief intimately. He lost his first wife, Maria Barbara, unexpectedly while he was away. He remarried, but out of 20 children, at least 10 never reached adulthood. Eleven times, he buried a child he had loved and nurtured.
How did he endure so much loss and still create cantatas, cello suites, masses, and concertos that would define classical music?
Bach found strength in his faith. At the beginning of many compositions, he wrote “J.J.” (Jesu Juva, “Lord help me”), and at the end, he often signed “S.D.G.” (Soli Deo Gloria, “Glory to God alone”). To him, music wasn’t just sound—it was prayer. It was how he processed sorrow, how he found hope, and how he spoke to God.
His music remains a conversation between human suffering and divine grace. And that is why, even centuries later, when you listen to Bach, you are hearing something more than music—you are hearing the sound of faith, endurance, and an unbreakable spirit.

God says, “God does not leave people; He is someone they can rely on and find shelter in at all times, and their only confidant. So, no matter what difficulties and suffering befall you, no matter what grievances, or matters of negativity and weakness you are confronted with, if you come before God and pray at once, His words will give you comfort, and resolve your difficulties and all your different problems.”

God says, “What does this word, ‘faith,’ refer to? Faith is the genuine belief and the sincere heart that humans should possess when they cannot see or touch something, when God’s work does not align with human notions, when it is beyond human reach. This is the faith that I speak of.”

There was a Jewish man, the owner of one of Germany's most renowned bakeries. He would often recount a poignant story from his youth. "Do you know the reason I'm still breathing today?" he'd begin.
In my teenage years, during the dark era when the N***s were ruthlessly exterminating Jews, they transported us to Auschwitz by train. Within the confines of that train car, the cold was so biting it felt as if it could cut through bone. Days felt like weeks as we remained trapped without food or even the basic comfort of a bed. The world outside was blanketed in snow, and every gust of wind felt like shards of ice on our cheeks. Hundreds of us huddled together during those harrowing nights—without food, water, or any semblance of shelter. It felt as though the very blood in our veins was turning to ice.
Amidst the crowd, an elderly Jewish man from my hometown was at my side. His condition was deteriorating; he shivered uncontrollably, looking every bit as frail as he felt. Compelled by compassion, I wrapped my arms around him, offering him my body's warmth. I clung to him, rubbing his hands, legs, face, and neck, imploring him with my actions and words to hold onto life. I spent the entire night trying to preserve the warmth in both of us.
When dawn finally broke and the first rays of sun pierced the horizon, I surveyed the scene around us. A gut-wrenching sight met my eyes: bodies frozen in the cold embrace of death. An oppressive silence, the kind that only death can bring, hung in the air. The merciless chill of the night had claimed everyone—save for two. The elderly man and myself were the sole survivors. He lived because I refused to let the cold claim him; I lived because in warming him, I had warmed myself.
Allow me to share a profound truth: The secret to enduring in this world lies in warmth. Not just physical, but emotional and spiritual. When you nurture the spirit of another, your own spirit flourishes. When you lift others, you too are lifted…
