Good morning to you all,
I pray that you have a beautiful day today and all you do is blessed.
Please remember that Two Minute Noodles would be wonderful to add to the food parcels this month. If you are able to contribute, that would be so appreciated.

Reading: Mark 6: 48
And seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night.
Reflection:
I know that I do not have to ask how many of us are straining against the oars at the moment. We seem to work and work, and never get the things done that we should. The wind always seems to blow against us, and we feel the weight of the wind against the boat. The oars seem to get so heavy, and it is so difficult to dig deep!
Does this ring true for you?
Funny how it seems that the problems and the worries always seem bigger in the night! This is exactly how the disciples felt.
They were really straining against all the odds, and no head-way seemed to be on the horizon.
We all face things in life. Things always seem to be larger than they should at the critical times in our lives. Things seem to just swamp us, and the oars don’t seem to work.
You need to know, that you are never alone.
Not even in the darkest hour of the night, are you alone. God is always there. He is always just a breath-prayer away from you. He longs for you to cry out to Him and tell Him the things that are holding you back, the things that keep you awake at night, the wind against your face!
Call out to Him!
Breath-prayer: Lord, in your mercy, hear my cry! Father, You alone knows all the things that really trouble us. You know and You understand and You will come in anc be with us in the time of distress. Father, we call out to You alone this morning. In Jesus Name, Amen

From my desk to yours ….

25 – 29 May 2026

Good morning dear family and friends, I pray that you are well. I will be away this week in Mbombela attending the annual Synod of the Limpopo District. Patricia will be sending the Devotions for me to you all. Thank you so much Patricia for always standing in my gap.

There are a few things on the horizon at the moment. We are having a really busy time and a time of beautiful fellowship. I invite you to come along and be part of this and help us to build our church up.

On 20 June we have the Men’s Breakfast at St Johns at 9am. Come along and celebrate with us as we spoil our fathers. You need to contact Henty at 067 787 5033 to reserve your seat at the table.

On 26 July, we will be celebrating Christmas in July at St Johns. We will sit down to lunch together and just remember why we celebrate Christmas. The cost is R100 per person, and booking is essential please. Please bring a packet of Mealie Meel with you to the Lunch so that we can bless others too.

And then the big fund raising event of the year. Our golf day at Centurion Golf Estate on 18 August. If you enjoy playing golf, can put together a four ball. If you are moved to sponsor a hole, or donate a prize or two, it will be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at 083 709 3235 for more information.

I am looking forward to chatting again soon.

We will take a look at Mark 6:45-52 this week. Please try to memorize the scriptures, and let the word of God wash over you in a real and dynamic way all week.

Reading: Mark 6:46 And after bidding them farewell, He departed to the mountain to pray.

Reflection:

Jesus regularly left his people and disciples and went to the mountain to pray. Jesus needed to be alone with His Father, to spend time with Him and to pray. This must be one on the most important things that we can do. We need to spend time alone with God on a daily basis to pray, to connect and to listen to God.

It is good to pray with other people, to have a prayer partner, but it is of cardinal importance that we spend time with God alone. As we speak to God, we build our relationship with Him on a daily basis.

I know that it is difficult to start. Then start with only one minute with God alone. Just sit in a quiet place. Switch off your phone, the TV, radio and computer/i pad. Make sure that there is nothing that will distract you, and then just spend one minute in prayer.

Try to use the acronym ACTS

A = adoration, tell God how much you love Him

C = confession, there are things in our lives that bring God no honour and no glory to ourselves. Most times it is our thought life that lets us down. Remember that if you confess your sins, He is faithful to forgive your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

T = thanksgiving, thank God for what He has done for you, is doing and will do in the future. A life of thanksgiving leads to a life of praise, and as this grows in our lives, we find that there and more things to be thankful for than to complain about.

S = supplication – pray for yourself and your needs. Tell God how you feel, He knows your needs, but wants us to lay our needs at His feet. This is not the shopping list, but rather the time when we just speak our needs to God.

A structured prayer life, lead to a life of prayer!

Breath-prayer: Father teach me to pray! This morning is the best time to stop and say thank you for the night’s rest and the day ahead. Thank you for holding me in Your hand all night and for being with me as I go through this day. In Jesus name, Amen

Friday – 22 May 2026
Reading: Matthew 8:24
'Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat.'
Reflection:
Strange how adversity comes like a storm. And more than that, it seems to creep up upon you, and catch you when you least expect it. It is true that there are things that we bring upon ourselves, and I also know that for every decision there is a consequence, but the storms of life just seem to happen from nowhere. And when it breaks, it just overwhelms you and you have that sinking feeling. I know that there are many of you who can identify with me in this regard.
But then I also know, that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. God can make the storm work for you. He can make things happen that we stand in amazement when we see what our Lord can do! God uses the storms in our lives to make us strong. He helps us to square our shoulders and face the things that are there, and then He helps us to find the good in the storm. We are quick to complain and moan about the things that happen around us, but in all things God has a plan, and we need to allow that plan to come to fruition in our lives.
Step back and see what the Lord is doing in your life today!
Breath-prayer: Father thank you that the storms do not catch You unawares, and that You do not have a plan B. Thank you for taking care of me in the midst of the storms in my life, in Jesus name, Amen
