It's sad to me that many still believe in the Penal Substitution of Chirst. This means many believe that God poured out his wrath for humanity upon Jesus. This couldn't be further from the truth!
Penal substitution paints a violent picture of our Father, as if he were so angry & full of rage that he had to pour his wrath for us onto his beloved son.
The truth is, Jesus intentionally laid his life down for the purpose of reconciling humanity unto himself. God is love & love holds no wrath!
Christ was not punished on our behalf my friends! If one believes in penal substitution, they then believe that Father is rageful, angry, full of bitterness and wrath.
Furthermore, God, who is love, would never punish us or for that fact, his own son in a blind rageful act of murder just so he could release his anger towards us. God, help us to see the true purpose of the cross! An act of love on our behalf. Jesus willingly laid down his life to tear the veil that clouded our vision, to open our eyes to the truth concerning the Father's true nature, to restore all that was lost, to reconcile us back to the Father (we were alienated in our minds). Jesus accomplished all this and more!
It is finished---in love, not in wrath!
